Whats the best we can hope for this year?
Realistically anything near last seasons points total would be impressive given the lack of investments and team strengthening to date. At that point, howson, becchio and of course Snoddy all become likely transfer targets if they are all with us still then. Any further weakening of the squad would not bode well for the following season
Whats the worst that can happen?
We would be embroiled in a relegation battle at xmas mid season point. Under grayson the second half of the last two seasons have been ****e so would hope to be well clear of trouble by then or else. Possibility of losing another big name in January car boot sale which would surely undermine team and supporters morale. If the worst nightmare happened and we were to be relegated, we may not recover so easily the next time.
Im hoping for the first option but not with a lot of confidence

Agreed, if we stay in The Championship, I will be relieved. We are poor and the others will only get better, that on top of the fact that every team raises their game when they come to ER and we are fecked.

I remember a few debates in pre season, a few myself included argued how we are weaker this season than last and a few disagreed. I predicted best for us would be around 10th, I still think that will be the case. We are no nearer to plugging the leaky defence now than we were 18 months ago.

I was another who said at the time we are weaker and that was pre gradel being sold. Of course youre accused of being a pessimist then. I hope youre right with prediction, id take 14th at the minute

Thats exactly it. No matter what division were in, our 24,000 supporters will turn up week after week, pay premiership prices, buy all the merchandise and ask no questions. Bates gets to cream off the same pots of money no matter where we are

The worst is that team morale will plummet. It seems to be shaky last two seasons, with no sense that we'll just turn up and tonk someone.

With a weak squad, SG needs to get a grip on discipline. We can't afford for people to be suspended.
