Recently with us constantly changing our team and formation and everyone wanting different people playing I was wondering what people see as our best 11. Ignore all current form its based if all our players was on top form. What 11 and formation would you pick? I would have Schmeichel Simpson Morgan Huth Schlupp Mahrez Drinkwater Cambiasso Knockaert Ulloa Kramaric
Have to say I'm not a fan of Danny Simpson - given his pretty dire distribution ... Kasper has not been great this season but if he could recapture the form from last season then he'd be OK (we actually have 3 pretty good keepers on our books) In terms of recapturing form - Drinkwater has been the biggest disappointment of all - anything like last season's form and he would be a 'shoe-in'. But the same could be said for deLaet in that context ... would we have wanted to put Simpson in his place last season? I don't think so. Wes has also been poor this season - based on that it would be very close with Upson. Last season he was fantastic. The rest I'd agree - including Knocky (at his best).
I'd agree, except I'd swap Simpson for De Laet and possibly Wasilewski for Morgan. Albrighton for Knockaert too. Can't believe how excited we were at the beginning of the season to see Drinkwater alongside Cambiasso. Drinkwater has to be the second biggest disappointment of the season for me (after our points total!).
Good thread. Id say: Kasper De Laet Huth Upson(!) Konchesky Drinkwater Cambiasso Knockaert Mahrez Schlupp Kramaric But i think Knockaert may have died and Drinkwater has the confience of a 7 year old boy in a brothel.
In the situation we're in now (attacking or defensive intent signaled with arrows) Kramaric▲ Nugent▲ Mahrez▲ Schlupp▲ James▼ Cambiasso▼ Vardy▲ Huth▼ Morgan▼ Wasilewski▼ Hamer▼ James and Cambiasso to cover for Vardy and Schlupp. Cambiasso to play as a deep-lying playmaker, the defenders need to give him the ball at every opportunity in order to build attacks. Schlupp and Vardy to do as they always do and work their socks off. Kramaric and Nugent to give Mahrez time on the ball with selfless workrate.
Nugent said in the week he thinks the team plays better when he plays, to be honest I would find it hard to argue with that. He might fluff a lot of chances but the team do seem the create more chances with him in the team. And as he showed today and against Liverpool he is capable of putting the more difficult chances away. Its the simple ones he misses
I actually didn't see his goal until a few minutes ago (my stream cut out at that point!). Easily the best goal of the game. Cracking finish. Just wish he could do that a bit more often.
If and big if we can keep Krammy and Ulloa, with the recent form of Vardy and Nuge (as per last year) we could really smash the goals in next season in the championship. Definitely in terms of going back up, player retention is key not recruitment although as someone mentioned in another thread we'd need to recruit better for a return here starting in January
Anybody picking Simpson needs to give their head a serious wobble - he's abysmal,Personally I think he's colour blind and Konch is as well, must be the only reason why they're unable to pass to any of their teammates in a Blue shirt!
I think Simpson is a better defender then De Laet thats why I picked him. I suspect we will try and move Simpson on in the summer
Can't argue with the creativity and general play ... have said many times that he might have a role behind the striker(s) ... but the piece in the week also highlighted the problem ... he 'pleaded' to be played as he felt he had the goals in him to keep us up ... sadly he doesn't ... when it really matters he misses the chances that might give you wins ... there was no real pressure on him when he scored ... game in injury time, 2 goals behind ... if he'd had a further chance would any of us have backed him to score? ... he had 4 other chances which were all far easier ... and that's not including the swerving volley in the first half (another cracking effort) ... unfortunately this again was closer to a goal to the bread and butter chances ... Vardy by contrast put his one chance away excellently ... very frustrating - but unfortunately that is why he has never been (and for me never will be) a top Premier League striker ...
