Simon Grayson says Federico Bessone's time at Leeds United may not yet be over if he impresses in pre-season this summer. The full-back joined from Swansea City last year, but he struggled early on and was eventually loaned to Charlton. Bessone is now back at Leeds and with the likes of George McCartney and Eric Lichaj returning to their parent clubs there is an opening at left-back. Grayson only has Bessone and fit-again Ben Parker vying for the role and he is crossing his fingers the Argentine can recapture his best form. "We're short in that department," Grayson told the Yorkshire Evening Post on his left-back options. "If (Bessone) starts well in pre-season and looks like the player we thought we had signed last year then he has an opportunity." Funny last comment.."Looks like the player we thought we'd signed last year'
nothing to lose by throwing him in the mix in pre season. Could be trouble on the cards though if Parker gets injured again & we have to rely on Bessone. Just my thoughts of course, lets hope he proves everyone wrong & recaptures the Swansea form he once had. dont think he did a bad job on loan at Charlton did he?
no think he played pretty much every game for them and was a steady performer...maybe he had a bad case of stage fright for us..
If Parker breaks down, which unfortunately is as likely as the sun setting, we also have White who surely deserves a go at LB?
maybe it was the complete lack of cover that made bessone look awful, no matter how good the fullback is without protection he will be exposed
Whites thought of more of a winger in the clubs eyes. But I agree, he surely could step in if we really need him too after all we used to rely on Bradders to do just that & Whites pace to be an asset in supporting Kissa/O'Brien, as could Parkers mobility if he can still shift after his injuries! Charlton's valley ground is quite an intimidating place to play on the wing, proper old school ground like Elland road, so lets hope the experience helped.
He'll have to have one hell of a pre-season to justify his place. He really was terrible last season. But who knows? He may finally step up
that last comment is quite funny, i think he deserves a chance in pre-season but i cant really see him ever playing regularly for leeds united, so really the sensible thing is to move him on
Everyone deserves another chance..... On all accounts he was quality at Swansea....he started bad and we alsways have high expectations of everyone who pulls on the white shirt. (rightly so....) I hope he works out and lets give him a chance
When we signed him I thought he was the bargain of the season, I was quite shocked at his performances. I would like to see him given another chance, on the Parker front, I don't rate him in the slightest, fit or not.
Bessone was part of the defence that conceded the least goals in the league 2 seasons ago and the Swansea fans were all pretty upset when he left so I think he deserves another chance.
