DENNIS BERGKAMP has been appointed Ajax's assistant boss. The ex-Arsenal hero had been in charge of the youth system but has been promoted to first-team duties with former team-mate Frank De Boer. Bergkamp, 42, has not yet signed a contract but took charge of first-team training yesterday. Although he spent the first seven years of his career with the Dutch giants, he has made no secret of his desire to one day coach the Gunners. He said: "I would advise everyone to work in England, as a player or a coach. It just breathes football." Ajax striker Mounir El Hamdaoui, 26, who is wanted by Fulham, will be allowed to leave.
he'll come as a coach, i'd like him to coach the strikers. a lot of people tout him as a future manager, but he'd never do that. as said in his interview, it doesn't really interest him, and with his fear of flying he'd be very very restricted as either manager, assistant, or main coach if he couldn't travel. he's much better as a 1st team striker coach - love him to come back in this capacity.
