we're overloaded with strikers so it comes as no surprise! money down the drain, it does beg the question why he was signed during a relegation battle where PL experience is a must, not given any chance to play, and is now shipped out for a potential fee fixed below what we paid for him.
Nice to see Ole being prepared to say bye bye to one of his own. Maybe not an admission of a mistake, more of a recognition that we have better at the club and the "old boy network" should count for nothing. Who next?
Starter for 10, bonus points to come. Who will be first out of Ralls, Mason, Kiss and Velikonja? Also, from Ole's comments after Marshie's injury unless Lewis is injured it looks like Moore is now no. 2 keeper with 2 youngsters in the Devpt. Squad. Could Lewis be on his way?
Good luck to Berget though. He clearly wasn't the man for us and at least he can't damage us at Celtic.
I don't blame Berget at all for wanting game time and good luck to the guy, but as much as anything else, him going to Celtic makes you wonder about the relative strength of the two national leagues. A player who wouldn't get into our Championship side being seen as a worthy capture by far and away the best team in the SPL speaks volumes. If he's going to Celtic as a first team option and a greater opportunity to play, he'd walk into any other side in that league.
He's been a waste of money, but Daehli looks very good value and Eikrem looks like he can do a job. 2 out of 3 isn't bad for relatively cheap captures. I tend to agree with Sparks on this one, I like the fact that despite the fact Berget was Ole's player he has cut his losses quickly and moved him on. Many managers would have been a lot more stubborn about him than that. Doesn't mean I'm convinced Ole is the right man either, I just think he's done the right thing in this instance.
I met Lewis 4 weeks ago at the Heath Hospital, his Mrs is due her baby around the same time as mine is. We got chatting and I asked him if he is leaving and he said he loves it here but he needs to play 1st team football so it all depends on what happens with Marshall (around the time Arsenal and Tottenham were sniffing around).
Good insider titbit there Jay. When is your little one due? Could be Lewis will bide his time until the arrival of his child and then make a decision?
A loan with a possible perm move in Jan. He's played under the Celtic manager before so is a known quantity to him. Hopefully a fee involved. 1 down, just another 8 or so to go.
Little boy due in approx 24 days dude. Yes, could well be he is waiting, don't want to be moving up and down the country with a heavily pregnant woman. I know I wouldn't . I said I wasn't sure if he had been given a fair chance and he said the gaffer knows what he's doing but he would like a shot to prove himself. imo as long as Marshie is here, Lewis and Moore wont get a look in unless Marshie gets injured.
Cheers Jay. Hope all goes well. The point I was making was who would be no. 2 to Marshie? Moore got the nod at Yeovil and Ole's comments after that only mentioned Moore not Lewis, hence my train of thought. However, if Lewis needs to go to get first team football what you said is a good explanation subject to his impending fatherhood. Time will tell.
