Cottager,I also read this article,and in my opinion this, if it materialized could be a good call for us. Something in the back of my mind tells me that Jol could be looking to offload both AJ & BZ. For 12/14mil,and the prospect of Berbatov for the remainder of the season,i for one would not be disappointed. The summer recess could hopefully get us a goalscorer.
Oh please not! He may score some goals, but at times he can be the laziest stricker, who can frustrate many of us.
Agreed GeraScores. Sometimes he is brilliant, other times he looks like he couldn't give a toss. Frustrating is the word.
If we get him, it'll all come down to what he delivers. If he regularly does nothing for 85 minutes but scores two blinding goal we'll love him. I can see the appeal in this, and the plausibility of the Jol connection making it happen, but I'm still hoping that if a new striker arrives it will be someone who is younger and joining permanently (or at least, a loan with a view to a permanent move). I agree with Valjing that AJ and BZ could be on Jol's list of players to move out.
We have at the moment some forwards who are very skillful and creative, all we need now is a centre forward in the old style, who can bang them in.
If Bobby continues to show signs of indifference or indiscipline I can see him going, especially if a team like Sunderland put a good offer on the table! AJ's situation is known with the contract talks stalled! At the end everything depends on our position in January and the market.
Indeed he was, so much so that Sir Alex paid £30m for him. I'd be happy to have him in the squad for the latter half of the season, maybe it'll give Bobby a rocket.
Good point DR, I remember thinking I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Fulham shirt (despite the team he's playing for now) when he handed in a transfer request.
