He wants to go and he might be available for as cheap as £5m. Anyone think it worth a punt? Not sure he would fit into the AVB system, or to Levys aim to build a young team, but there are certainly some potential plusses. Aside from the fact that he's cheap: - he knows Tottenham (yes yes we know he sulked to leave, but let bygones be bygones) - players like Thudd, Lennon & Defoe are still here and know how to play with him - he would offer us something different upfront - maybe that bit of guile & experience that would help Damiao, or any other bright young strikers we sign - maybe he would have a point to prove. Chances are it wouldn't come off - but at 5m worth a shot surely?
Not for me. although I'd love to have his first touch back at the club! Never seen anything like it in all the time I've followed football. You should set this up as a voting poll, Stjohn. It'd be interesting to see what % say yes, and who says no.
I'd say yes, but as a last resort. As in, if every other striker in existence refuses to sign for us last resort. He's past it now, and the way he left the club leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Although, as you say, he would offer something different upfront, but surely we can find that difference in another player somewhere?
I thought he was out of contract? Eitherway, I would've said 'yes' before Adebayor but since it looks like we're getting Ade who's much better I can't see Berba wanting to sit on the bench for us, nor would I consider him an all that important signing so it won't be worth re-opening the can of worms by signing him.
berba and ade would work great together I think. Ade can finish the ball and needs that class provider alongside
No thanks to players who would sit on the bench and help the Sky 4 status quo instead of putting effort in at their current club
I would suggest the new style of play is going to involve a high intensity pressing game, requiring hard work.....can't believe this blokes name is even being mentioned, he did fuk all when he was younger and fitter!
NO..NO...NO...NO...NO NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER EVER NIET NIET NIET NIEN NIEN NIEN NON NON NON NOPE NOPE NOPE WTF? WTF? WTF? Doesn't deserve to step foot in WHL after the way he behaved while we waited for united to cough up. was a fantastic player with the best first touch of any of player since Hoddle but it don't change the fact that he was a **** at the end
I guess that's a no then, Colin? this might have been a quicker reply... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_FmADVggCk
No for me, but I'm very tempted. The thing is, I see a trend of getting rid of people who don't really want to be at WHL, and there's a lot to be said for it. Bringing Berbatov back after a major show of disloyalty would be a setback on that front. The reason I'm tempted is I'm afraid of possible injuries, and think Berbatov might be good at stepping in. He's been good off the bench as well.
I loved the player before he forced his own move to United. Yes, we got top dollar for him, but it screwed us up for two seasons. What I'd rather us do is finish above United next season, without having to rescue the career of a 31 year old who failed to make the most of his dream move.
He's a class player and imo the best striker we've had since Klinsmann. He did mug us off when he left but for me the pros of Berba outweigh the cons. Get him in.
