Bored with last day he's signed, no he hasn't stories so wonderedwhat people made of these two ex spurs getting back together There were a lot of rumours that Berbatov refused to play for Jol in his last few games as spurs manager (most notably refusing to come off the bench when we lost away to Newcastle) and were regularly at loggerheads with each other. Does the fact that Jol has now re-signed him prove these reports were rubbish or does it show that Berbatov ain't so arrogant? Or is it all going to end in tears?
Fingers crossed for us on Berba - pretty optimistic at the moment. Please get your fingers out and sign Dempsey - he will do well and score plenty, can't stay with us, musn't go to liverpool............Villa???? or you - make a decent bid!
The Dempsey to Aston Villa talk, is probably the oddest deal of ths window. Why on earth would he want to go there ??
great signing for Fulham. We missed out there, could've done with the swine. Dempsey at Spurs? Not so sure. Bit old and expensive for Levy
I'm sure him and jol have respect for each other and they will laugh about what happened in his final days at spurs.
Seems to me Berba has won his trophies at United and seems content to see his career out at Fulham where he can get away with an occasional flash of brilliance while his team battles relegation. Did he actually sell his expensive house in or around London after he went to Manchester?I recall he had an expensive sound system in it.......
I don't see Fulham battling relegation, even though their summer planning may not have worked out as anticipated. They will need to tighten up away from home, and if they can do that, then I can see them having another decent season. Once they were free from Europa commitments, they had a great end to last season and I see no reason why they can't continue where they left off.
Same. I used to really enjoy reading Jol's articles he did in the Times(I think) over the 2006 World Cup, he's very good at simplifying football when it needs to be and I'm sure he'll continue to get the best out of their team even without a couple of key players.
What are the odds he brings Keano in on loan during the MLS off season, the three of them can re live the glory days. Great signing for Fulham, i've been wanting us to bring him back all summer but Levy i'm sure is too proud. Berba pretty much single-handedly reignited my interest in football after years of apathy towards Spurs, one of the best players i've seen at the Lane for sure.
I wonder how offended you would be if I said that Spurs would be stuck in midtable this year? Because the last time Fulham battled relegation, Spurs finished 11th. I hope Jol and Berbatov can refind the that magic. We need a spark now you've stolen our prize asset! Anyways, if Dempsey is going to leave I'd rather it was to Spurs than Liverpool.
I don't agree with him either but when we were signing Dembele there were a couple of comments on your board calling us an average club on the way down and AVB an idiot. Swings and roundabouts, I wouldn't take any offence unless he'd gone out of his way to put it on your board, it's just an opinion.
Agent Jol at it again, not content with beating all of our rivals he is now giving us half his squad!
5m for Berba's a great bargain. Proven quality in the Prem and so far no real signs of him going off the boil. The kind of player who could still prove his worth well into his mid thirties. Can't see why we weren't in for him. But what about those 110k wages I've read about?
He burnt too many bridges with Levy when he left ... I suspect he got a huge signing on fee instead of the wages.
Yeah but seriously - Levy's a businessman. Why should he let petty resentments get in the way? And it's not like Levy will be dealing with him/seeing him every day. Or even often at all possibly. Sounds like bad business to let nonsense get in the way of a good deal.
I'm not offended old son.Didn't expect much from Spurs this season to be honest. However, with the player coming in plus late signing Dempsey ,I'm looking forward to coming matces. Come on you Spurs!
I think him going on strike, bad mouthing levy, and generally forcing his move and in effect ****ing up our start to that season was one bridge too many mate.
He didn't seem to mind playing alongside some of the iffy players we had at Spurs a few years ago. And I don't know for sure about this "moody git" reputation. He has a lackadaisical look about him when he's playing and I wonder how much that appearance has fed into people's opinions of him as a man and the narratives they've created about his transfers etc. I can't remember - did he actually "go on strike" or was it one of those situations that often come up (and we've now had two years running with Modric) where an unsettled player is simply not used? Did he really refuse to come on against newcastle? Or was it when he refused to sit on the bench against Norwich in a friendly (allegedly)?
