Just seen this..... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11766_7035442,00.html That puts him out until end of August by my reckoning. What a shame he's going miss pre-season. Do we think we need another striker? Or are we confident starting with Rendell and another?
Thats about the timespan we expected. Hopefully he will be able to still do a lot of fitness work and be able to get back quite quickly once his hand has healed. We still have a few strike partners for Rendell and will give them a chance to stake their claim before Benyon is fit. Could work out well for them. When do you thenk Ibe will get his first game, baring in mind he played against Chelsea today including their first team? Will he become our youngest player ever at 15?
waddock obviously rates him or he wouldnt get a sniff in the friendlies with the first team squad at the tender age of fifteen so its looking good
is ibe the answer to our goalscoring problems of the last few seasons, lets hope so,my thoughts have always been if you are good enough you are old enough
Ibe is a long way off the first team squad, but he's a great prospect though. We have enough cover up front with Rendell, Strevens, Beavon and McClure to cover Benyon while he is out. Plus Grant can play there if needed. I think we might see a 4-3-3 system used a bit more too, with Grant and Betsy used as wide forwards and Donnelly or Beavon tucked in behind a striker. I think Waddock has been making intelligent signings who can fit into different systems and hopefully there's couple more to come.
