If he saw it and decided that it didn't even warranty a booking, then they cannot take further action against Barnes, if they follow their own rules. I get that part. What they can do, in light of Atkinson seeing that challenge and not even brandishing a yellow, is sack him for being a completely incompetent piece of **** referee.

Pikey scum I agree with you to an extent. Barnes should get a 3 game ban and Matic's reaction should be reduced to a yellow card IMO. However, I think this is further proof of FA/refereeing incompetence rather than some footballing illuminati conspiring against Chelsea.
Matic should get reduced to a booking imo. barnes should also get a ban, problem is they cannot give him a ban without breaking their own stupid rules. The rule is ****ing daft, but its their rule nonetheless so they cannot break it otherwise it undermines them as a governing body. What they should do is eliminate that ****ing rule about "if the ref see's it then we cannot take further action" especially when the Chief referee has come out and said the ref was incompetent. If you cannot trust their judgement then how can you trust them to give a fair refereeing display?

When you see tackles like this and the McManamon one for Wigan a couple of seasons back go unpunished either during the game or retrospectively, you have to wonder what message this sends out. Just more licence to see thugs go around kicking technically better players to try and 'level the field'. Absolute disgrace.

It really depends what the arsehole put in his report, if he put 'Matic violently threw Barnes to the floor' then its a three match ban. On the other hand if he put 'Matic aggressively threw Barns to the floor it should have been a Yellow card only. Its my belief that despite the FA's agenda against us they will be fearful of the backlash from just about everybody in the game from fellow players, manager's pundits and football journals all clearly not getting it wrong but right. I can't remember any other case where an appeal is applicable as the FA don't allow them after review but such is the outrage from all that this will now be allowed to happen allowing Matic free to play against the spuds at Wembley.
I'm certainly not holding my breath for a reprieve. Still no reason why we can't beat Spuds as we were doing it long before Matic arrive. To those that say they are a different team now, I say that our team is better than theirs. If we approach it right then we'll win.

The FA are the root cause of the problem of proper punishment because they are so dumb they can't even get their own rules correctly written. As long as any Club has influence over the FAs' operations, the FA will never be fair. Now they are right where they deserve to be, seen as useless, toothless, biased and grossly unfair by all realistic supporters of all Clubs. F A ****ing arseholes.
End of the day, the FA isn't fit for purpose. I wonder how this benefits football, matic, or even atkinson who undoubtedly is going to be under more pressure and scrutiny now. its a shame, but the game is ran by idiots...and there is NOTHING we can do
