Hi all spurs fans. I don't make many comments but I read a hell of a lot for ages now and the past 606. Just wanted to say how bloody good is Assou-Ekotto? I never ever believed he would be the player he is now and there is not one left back in the premier league I would swap him for, not a chance. It winds me right up when some so called Spurs fans say when talking about new players that we need in this transfer window go on about buying a "decent left back" going on a few highlights that get shown on MOTD or the like of the odd mistake he makes. Yeah he does but he takes a chance and I love watching him play. One of the reasons why I love spurs are players like him! Good on you Benny, top man!
I'd like to see us bring in some real back-up and competition for him, but he's been very consistent for us for quite some time. The way that he links up with a number of our players is invaluable and I'll take the odd heart attack for his tricks and flicks. Great celebration tonight. Nice squad spirit.
the fact that he is a bit 'loopy' is what makes him the great full back he is for us....great guy...cracking full back..well said crackerjack man
For most of my life, it seems, Spurs teams have only ever had a handful (if that) of players as good as BAE is. Mind you - you could say that of quite a lot of our first team right now. Err- maybe all of them. Am I just a bit too excited right now?
WHOAH - you could seriously misread this last post - I meant only a handful of players as good as him at any one time. Not that he's one of the best players to have ever played for Spurs in my lifetime. I'm not getting THAT carried away. And I'm also not three years old.
Cheers guys for your comments, weirdly felt a bit nervous writing my first article but it was about time!! You are so right about the team. It's almost unbelievable where we are now. Thinking of our first 11 and our squad and how good we are and what we could achieve is incredible. We used to always have brilliant players but this was balanced up with 5-6 sh*t players!! I sort of try not to get carried away as over 20 years of supporting spurs there have been a few false dawns. I was there when we were 3-0 up at halftime v united about 10 years ago. No need to say anymore about that! Things seem different this year, there is a belief and will to win like never before even with injuries to key players. Maybe, just maybe......COYS!!!

Benny has superb distribution..as was witnessed with Lennon's opener tonight....many a time i have seen him curve the ball down the wing for Bale to get to..he has great link up play ..is very calm....and is so nervless that he wont let the pressures of a title challenge get to him..thats why he does cruyf turns and stepovers in our own penalty area surrounded by 2-3 players from the other team id get bored watching Baines play.
Spot on mate - his distribution is excellent and as someone commented earlier, Bale getting a freer role allows his to really push on.
Couldn't agree more. I thought when we finished fourth he was one of the reasons. Solid, cool, skillful and gets forward well. I would be hard pushed to swap him for anybody. Along with Daws, kaboul and Walker, that is a hell of a back 4.
Sublime player,easily the best left back in the prem and probably the best in the world. He has pace,skill,technique,can tackle,shoot,head the ball,pass well.Super player. And Gareth Bale is a great player aswell...he is from Saints after all!
He's very similar to Marcelo but I'd say Marcelo's better alround He does still have the odd game where his risk taking at the back doesn't work and e puts us in trouble but he's been thriving in the space going forward since Bale has taken up a free role.
He does make the odd mistake, so what...not as bad as Baines though! ...and he drives a Smart car! I'd love to find that photo of the car park, Bentleys, Astons, Range Rovers, Bales R8...then that fukin thing!
ask yourself this: Would you have Benny's name printed on the back of your shirt? it's a question I always ask myself in my own mind to determine whether the player is someone I'm truly fond of. the answer, YES. - Our most improved player over the last 3 years IMO and currently irreplaceable. He's established himself as one of the best left backs in the prem, with out a doubt.
It's all been said really and I agree. He used to get a lot of stick from some of our fans I think he has shut them up now. All that talent and a nice level headed guy as well. Hate him!
I've always liked him, though he does leave you with your heart in your mouth! Has easily turned into the best LB since i've supported spurs.... but then that's not been too hard! He's really come on leaps and bounds in the last 3years...fair play to him.
