yeah it's been mentioned a few times and at one stage both he and eubank agreed to have the rematch that never happened .. If you ask me if a man wants to fight and is good enough then I see no reason why age matters … you can die in the ring at any moment at any age .. I just hope it's matched well nobody wants to see him end up being beaten too badly .
The problem is that there aren’t too many other 55yo fighters knocking about. How do you decide he is “good enough “? Age matters a lot when it comes to Sport and no more so than boxing. He could be seriously injured. The Boxing Authorities are supposed to be there to protect people. One has by refusing a license; the other....?
you've not really grasped my point mate … you can get hurt regardless of age ! you can't imo support boxing under the notion that its safe
I don't think he should be fighting. However I am not really into telling people what to do. If he wants to fight and can pass the relevant tests then crack on. Its no different to someone wanting to risk their life doing extreme sports. Plenty 50 yr olds are into that. The risk is huge but that is part of the buzz. Boxers are no different they are constantly searching for that buzz of competing.
Agree, but there's a hell of a lot more chance of him getting seriously hurt at his age than someone a lot younger
Don't think there's many 50odd year old fighters around who would risk their lives getting in the ring, don't think the BBBC would allow it and rightly so
Care to name another 55 yo super middleweight who Benn could fight? The suggested fight is against a 40 yo. That’s 15 years difference. Given the respective ages that is a huge difference. Also the proposed opponent last fought as recently as 2 years ago. Also Benn hasn’t fought for nearly 20 years. If I remember correctly he was battered in his last fight and retired on his stool. He retired for a reason namely he was past it. Nothing has changed except he is 20 years older and even more past it now than when he first retired. The fact that he was refused a license by the BBBC speaks volumes.
once again its all irrelevant if the fight is matched correctly … its done all the time in amateur and charity events and nobody says ****
Is Sakio Bika still who it's meant to be? Don't think he's ever been stopped either. How many rounds is this meant to be, 6? He should try and get BHop out of retirement, he's around that age/weight
