I know. We've just boarded the ferry to Corsica so won't be in contact til tomorrow. If he goes he'll leave them with a greatly inferior squad after spending £80 million.
I heard rumours of him going to WHU - shame as he really was doing a good job of messing them around - but the horse punchers will be at Ashleys throat if this is true
Me to. I think a lot of it is just wishful thinking 'cos people want to see the Mags fly into an anti-Ashley rage tbh
Yeah he'll be linked with any vacancy at a premier level or a big overseas club. It does keeps the Mags fidgety, and on there toes in preparation for more Ashley enragement. But we have our own challenges - 3pts on Saturday to begin our recove
He can leave if he wants. He hasn't been dealt a good hand (nor the one he has promised) but he has done an average job here thus far. That being said, id be gutted if he left. We won't get a manager of his stature again. We will probably get some no mark to replace him
In truth mate you've no idea what he was promised. He made a big deal of getting the supporters on his side. I suspect that's because he thought he could use your loyalty to blackmail Ashley into giving more. But, in reality, he's spent £80 million, since relegation, to make the squad inferior. Surely you can't just expect Ashley to carry on regardless.
You are right to an extent. Our biggest downfall was getting relegated the season before. We missed out on so much PL money that we were always going to be in the clarts. Net, he hasn't spent 80million quid though sadly. We somehow flogged overrated tat for high prices in the Champ MA hasn't really invested that heavily into the club. He goes through periods of non (minimal) investment and then splurges. It doesn't quite work when you do it like that. Hence the 2 relegations. I also believe he's turned a minimal profit out of transfers although that stat can be skewed given what we got for Carrol, Sissoko and Wij. I don't hate MA for what it is worth. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't attempt to try it his way. However if I knew it didn't work, I'd change it up. He hasn't done that. To my mind this will lead us to a third relegation and a Tyne wear Derby in the Championship (unless you somehow pull yourselves together) Sorry if my post seems disjointed. Typing on a phone is no good for me and being at work makes it doubly hard! Despite my youth I'm somewhat of a Luddite!
As I say, non plussed either way. He can probably attract a slightly better standard of player but outside of that I can't say he's been outstanding. Just average. I'd give anything for stability. I do think he has the potential to leave is in a better position if given time but I'll be surprised if he sees out the season.
