Chelsea is appointing Rafa "Fact" Benitez as their manager.

Benitez I think will get the best out of Torres who has been the downfall of so many managers for the Chavs. AVB and RDM have all suffered because of him. But he was flying with Benitez and I think he could well do it again.

Perhaps but Torres is not the player he once was.

It seems to have brought the Chavs and the Dippers together. If FSW leads Chelsea to the title the Scouse scum will probably claim it as their 19th.

Chelsea were never going to finish higher than third anyway.

Securing top 4 is the height of their ambitions.... god they're getting more and more like Liverpool each day.

There are lots of scousers who are nostalgic about Benitez. Watching Real Madrid tonight reminded how he brought some great talent to the scousers. Alonso, Torres, arbeloa, (mascherano at barca) these were better players that their replacements brought by Dalglish the muppet. They were so under appreciated at the time <ok> Benitez could reinforce the Chavs.

    That would be awesome <laugh>

Rafact Benitez is just lucky there arent too many teams ready to challenge for CL places, they will probably still finish 3rd or 4th...

He'll help get their finances in order as well.

No one sells on players for a profit like Benitez, it's just a shame he replaces them with turds.

    Hazard out, Kuyt in.

He might get him finishing again, but he's not half the player he was in his Liverpool hey-day. Let's not forget, it wasn't just Hodgson, Ancelotti, AVB or Di Matteo that couldn't get him back to his best. He's also struggled with Spain, although not to the same extent. He does have 4 in 10 this season with Spain which is okay, but only had 1 in 9 last year and 3 in 11 the year before that! Spain didn't even play a striker in the Euro's with the absence of Villa, showing just how much he's struggled with them and how little faith they have in him.

So it's not a matter of poor performances through bad tactics, Spain always play the same way, he just isn't the same player. He doesn't seem to have the pace that defenders were so terrified of. His touch has deserted him and his finishing is now wayward.

    And Rafa is a ****.

Benitez set the team up to exploit the space behind the defence either centrally or wide by using Torres pace, the pace he no longer has so no Torres wont improve.

I fully expect him to put more effort in and therefore he may bag a few but nothing like what he did for us.

I know the Chavs won't appreciate him and some are even going to boo him. He will get Torres going again (the sort of player who needs to feel wanted and liked by the manager) and he will get players in (Spanish) who will do a job for him. I fear his appointment is bad news for United and City!

He'll only do a job if given the time and we all know that won't happen, I think Rafa is going to use this to put himself in the shop window again It wont last.

As for Torres he is what he is, a good footballer but without his pace just that.

No-one wanted Rafa for good reason. I don't know where all this "Tactical genius" malarkey ive seen bandied about came from. He's inept.

I think Torres is a lost cause for Chelsea. He has mentally and physically deteriorated far too much from the player he was 2 1/2-3 years ago. He just isn't sharp enough or hungry enough now.

What Benitez will do is get Chelsea more balanced when they play with the 4-2-3-1 formation RDM was using. Benitez has used that system a lot at both Liverpool and Valencia and it was particularly effective and successful with Valencia. He will ensure that Chelsea are a lot less vulnerable when they don't have the ball.

What sane manager would actually want to manage Chelsea? The reason i see people going to manage Chelsea is knowing they will get sacked sooner rather than later so they look forward to the hefty compensation payout after Roman shows them the door.
