From: http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/footba...portugal-to-conclude-sporting-lisbon-transfer The big Dane is currently tying up personal terms with the Premeira Liga giants after the Gunners finally accepted an undisclosed offer. Bendtner was left out of Arsenalâs pre-season tour of Asia, as well as the recent friendly in Cologne, after Arsene Wenger confirmed the forward and team-mate Manuel Almunia had been given time off to sort out their futures. 'Both of them are possible departures,' Wenger said. 'They are talking to other clubs at the moment. I cannot tell you which ones.' Now, after weeks of speculation, Sporting have finally won the race for the 23-year-old striker, who has also been strongly linked with Borussia Dortmund, Hamburg, and Benfica. Bendtner made 98 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 22 goals, but with first-team places limited at the Emirates the confident forward signalled his intentions to leave this summer in search of more regular game time. Arsenal were believed to be holding out for a £12million fee, although a figure closer to £9m has reportedly been agreed. --- Apparently reports in Portugal suggest he will be unveiled this Saturday at the Estadio Jose Alvalade before Sporting's friendly with Spanish side Valencia. Your thoughts on the imminent departure of the Great Dane, affectionately known as "Big Game Bendtner?"
Bonstar, are you another refugee from the old 606? im a bit dissapointed to see Bendtner go - i know its trendy to dislike him but I still feel he will become a very good player. Having said that I think its right we sell him as he is not improving quickly enough to stay...
that i am. surviving the fallout from 606 was a scary time. this forum seems the best alternative to me. i looked at a few others, but i like that threads head back to the top when they're posted on, rather than just falling off the edge when other new articles are created. also...i never was the one-star bandit. i'd wish Bendy was staying personally. I don't know if i'd rather have him as an option than Chamakh, but he's younger with more prospect for development. Chamakh can't be shifted after just a year however, and did play very well at the start of last season. following football is hard work sometimes.
If we let him go, then we will need another out and out forward to come in. Chamakh will then be the only central striker we have if RVP get's injured. Although NB was rarely played there, he gave us a good option if needed.
I wish it was Chamakh who was moving on instead . He started well last season but got progressively worse as the season went on. Why is he so scared to shoot ? He is a striker FFS. This season is definitely make or break for him but if a club came in with £10 M we should take it. Bendtner was more effective as an impact sub than a starter.
Bit gutted to see him go really, I think he was one of those players that just got the ****ty end of the stick from a lot of Arsenal fans. But when he did play, he usually made a really positive impact. That said, if we spend that £9 towards signing Mata, I will be a very happy Gooner
