Is never going to win people round on here, played well today, his best game for a while had a couple of decent efforts and was unlucky. His general build up play was very good and he created chances. Look at the difference from last week in the cup to today, we barely had any clear chances against Peterborough but had a s**tload today. He is doing his job without it being natural to him, he's not a lone striker but is doing well for the team.

If we could get a direct striker to play with bendtner we could be a very dangerous side, him and wickham were dangerous against Bolton and villa. I thought he played well today but will get the inevitable stick. F**k them

    Thoughts?

i agree ,thought he played well yesterday and you could see he was grafting his ass off sprinting to close people down and took it down very well all day for me, and should have been rewarded with a pen but for a shocking decision by the ref...

hopefully he keeps it up and maybe he will get that bit of luck and start knocking some goals in..

I think Bendtner is turning it around and him and Wickham could turn out to be a good partnership up front. If we get a striker in i hope he is miles better than what we have because i feel anything else could damage Wickham and Ji's progress.

I thought he was the weakest player yesterday, he did better in the 2nd half but I don't think he is the answer. He should have scored at the end really even though it was on his left foot. I don't want to slat him too much but I think we need a strinker who scores more goals and can compliment Sess and McClean in a 3.

Aww man !! Bendtner is hired for SAFC as a STRIKER !!!!!!!!!!!

I've gotta say...... when he got great chances for the Arsenal, he missed em,...........(Champions League semi vs Barca springs to mins !!) ..... not unlike the chance he had vs Citeh the other week. My point is............ no way is Bendy a NATURAL striker !! He tries hard , but no way on earth.

C'mon MON, show your hand , we want a pure natural finisher ....... bring on Defoe !!

Bendtner played very well yesterday i thought. His finishing could have been better, but so could have Gardner's (who is supposed to be able to score goals). He held the ball up well and creates space for the other player (like Sess) to run into. He is not a goal poaching 20+ goal striker, but he is a good player.

I thought him and Wickham in the last 15 minutes were causing all kinds of problems for Chelsea and could be the way to go if MON fancies a 4-4-2 formation for any of our upcoming games. The way Swansea are playing against Arsenal, it will be 4-5-1 against them.

From what I saw he was poor again and he has been poor for a couple of months now, for me we should look at sending him back to Arsenal and asking for our money back.

Always are players who will divide opinion, Bendtner is one of them.

For me, wouldn't have him. He drives me absolutely mad.

I think he is a good team player does a lot of the ugly things like holding the ball up and bringing others into play. I dont think its any coincidence that Sess looked less than championship standard against Peterborough without him and a world beater yesterday with him. Bendtner occupies defenders and is good at controlling some of our long hoofs up the park. He wont score more than 10 a season but while we have him i would use him as his ability to hold the ball up and do the donkey work to bring the quicker more skillful players into play could be invaluable.

I agree RednWhite that while we have him we should use him ......... BUT we should be doing better with the chances we do manage to accumulate.
Young James had at least 3 he probably shudda bagged yesterday, but hopefully he learns from the experience and bangs em in next chance he gets.

But for Bendy, I'm afraid he will just always be a target man rather than a class striker. A target man who mainly loses the jump off for headers, but when he does get the barnet on the ball, it usually goes off at right angles to the opposition !! He gives away stray passes more often than I can bear (for the money he must be on !!).

Gardener came on as a second half sub playing in midfield, Bendtner was on from the start playing up front, hardly a comparison. Bendtner could hit a barn door with a bullseye painted on it, he needs to go and quickly. If we'd had a real striker on the pitch yesterday we'd have come away with 3 points, unfortunately we didn't, we had a striker who likes hanging out on the wings and we got beat.
