Eligible to play for Wales.

Should he be selected?

Those who are moaning about team GB and fear this could put the Welsh team at risk. Does Wales and other home nations taking the mick by picking players who are not good enough for England (off the top of my head Ashley Williams , Crofts , Collison , Vokes , Nyantanga , Church , Morrison ) annoy FIFA.

Lets face it the Welsh team is Wales with part Welsh and Englands 4th string.

However if the likes of Ashley Williams are picked then surely Turner should be in the next squad particularly if one of our reserves is the current Wales centre back.

Or should we stop using the grandparent rule and pick a true Welsh team.

Personally id play the game and select the likes of Turner along with Williams and co.

But does this ruling pose a risk as surely FIFA can see it gives Wales , Ireland and Scotland an advantage.

In an ideal world, every player that puts on the Welsh shirt would be born and bred in Wales but we don't live in that world. If someone is eligible, and they're good enough, then I have no problem with it (provided the FAW didn't repeat the WRU's infamous 'Grannygate' fiasco).
A recent thread suggested Whittingham's possible eligibility on the grounds of residency.

Dont think they are right about Whitts.

Think the residence rule applies to a certain no. of years schooling in Wales.

Not sure if different sports have different rules, English Rugby & Cricket seem to have many non English in their teams.

Think they do. Pietersen served a qualifying period.

Under football rules im pretty certain he wouldnt have needed to as he would have qualified straight away as his mother is English.
