Here's a short clip, followed by the reaction of Southend's suspended centre-half Ryan Cresswell in the studio:
I don't really rate him higher than an average Championship player. Pleased for him, but can't see a Saints future for him.
Me too. He seems to be a decent player. Captain of the U-21's, and just the right age to break through now. I hope he is given more chances next year.
He'll make it. Along with a bunch of others...
Well, I said before tonight that they loved him down here, and now it's for sure. Party in Southend town centre and Reeves is the main man!
Seeing that video made me check up on Callum McNish, he of the self-described 'world class technique'. Would appear that he's on his fifth team since departing, struggling to get more than occasional sub appearances for Oxford City.
He'll be good enough, does need to bulk out though. Good with both feet, great eye for a pass and has a finish on him clearly.
Not quite sure what happened there with young McNish, although I suspect it's largely to do with his attitude. He was once touted as the next big Saints Academy star, and was even in the first team aged 17.
Really? So because he's at average championship level at the age of 21 he's never going to make it in the prem? He's got plenty of time to improve
Nigel clearly always rated him highly. Will be up to MP. Close season will be very interesting to see who stays and who goes!
That normally settles these guys down a bit, most footballers seem to have kids young. The thing is that you can have all the tricks in the world, but there are a lot of other things that go into making a top-class player: attitude, fitness, intelligence, luck... if they're missing any one of those things (and most are) then they won't "make it". Reeves is talented but I personally doubt he will ever become a regular first-team player for us.
Not seen it mentioned on here but Ben Reeve's loan ends on the 27th of February as things stand which would see him back at Southampton before the final. Hopefully there's an extension-clause in his loan deal as after his recent performances, he deserves the chance to play at Wembley.
I`m pleased for Luggy too - he deserves it. If we`d kept him as manager, I don`t think we`d have been relegated that season.
I'm pleased for him too, and neither do I think we would have been relegated. However, we probably wouldn't have the present owners or ambition either, so it possibly turned out better in the end. And to think I ranted my head off that Steve Wigley was appointed manager. I'd do it all over again too. He was like a rabbit caught in the headlights.
A few Saints connections in that side... Sturrock - Former Saints Manager Reeves - On loan from Saints Smith - Former Saints keeper!
