it has been announced that 2004 All-Ireland winning captain, Ben O'Connor, has retired from inter-county hurling. The Cork Senior Hurling Selection Committee this evening paid tribute to Ben for his immense contribution to Cork hurling since 1999. According to manager, Jimmy Barry-Murphy, "Ben has been an outstanding servant to Cork GAA, and while we are very disappointed to lose his services, we respect his decision and wish him well."
