Ben-Haim is suing Pompey for £1.4 million in unpaid wages, according to the mail. The 'defender' claims we haven't paid his £36,000 per week salary since he returned from West Ham on loan. He has supposedly continued to train, meaning he has honoured his contract, whereas we have obviously not. Ben Haim is backed by the PFA, and Pompey will be under embargo until the money is paid if he wins. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...en-Haim-sue-Portsmouth-1-4m-unpaid-wages.html
WOW... You guys better hope you can get some players in before this goes to court. Playing with eight players will be a bit of a disadvantage!
I hope they pay up quick otherwise ......... I suppose there is a five-a-side league............ 'cos that's where we're gonna be come July 1st. Never a dull day at Pompey is there!
As one last favour, Grant should have offered him a 5 year contract at West Ham. It would have been perfect, one last thumbs up at your lot, & the middle finger to the WHU board who he clearly disliked.
Surely refusing to play for us is breach of contract? In my opinion if he didn't want to play SC shouldn't have allowed him to train with us, he should have just let him rot. Obviously SC let him train to keep him fit to attract other clubs, but who else is going to be stupid enough to offer Ben Haim 36k a week?? i really hope that we have learnt from our mistakes and we keep our wage budget under control and stop with all the ridiculous additional clauses in the contracts.
Cotterill wanted to play him, but was told he couldn't. Ben Haim wanted to play, but was told he couldn't. Who the hell has ****ed up this time, surely Lumpitt couldn't have been so stupid!? I'd like to think that there isn't anything in this article, wasn't Ben Haim meant to be suing West Ham not so long ago for backing out of what he believed to be a season long loan?
Clearly Portsmouth will be required to honour their agreement. as a big club you would expect to pay the wages. how many more are in the locker though.....
Surely, Peter Storrie as the new chairman of Liss FC, could sign him up. After all, he was the pillock who gave Ben Haim his lucrative contract at PFC in the first place.
Not sure to what extent you can actually blame Lampitt. He's been trying to get the contract cancelled since the beginning of the year, clearly there have been problems with every route Pompey have taken. I don't think Cotterill every really wanted to play him, his attitude was poor and Cotterill isn't one to play someone with poor attitude. The only time Ben-Haim actually said wanted to play was last week- seems a bit sneaky, if you ask me.
With the news today that Ben Haim is being a money grabbing twat and suing us for 39 weeks wages (how did he work that one out, he wasn't even with us until January), do we still expect to see any signings tomorrow or Tuesday? I would say yes (Norris, Halford, De Laet and possibly Howard), but this the way they are at the moment... who knows
According to the Sunday Snail article - we have a transfer embargo until the Ben Haim situation is cleared up ie. until he gets paid. We should find out more tomorrow - I understand there is a press conference arranged for some time tomorrow. We shall see!
Reading a little closer, it looks as if the transfer embargo will only come in to effect if Ben Haim wins his trial Better get those 12 players through the door quickly then
According to the snooze Dave Norris is a done deal just waiting to be registered with the FL. 12 is an awful lot of players to have to find in one go. But if Ben Haim has to be paid then I'd guess he has to be played. Maybe he will get himself sold just like Utaka did!
Hreidarsson, Rose, De Laet, Halford, Hogg, Norris, Howard, Kamara, Gudjohnson, Taylor (Matty), Faye, Shackell. Cotterill: There we go Mr Lampitt, there is your list, we need them in before the league have time to screw us over
