First time poster so please be kind.

With HBA not getting much game time due to pards prefering the big lads up top do you think Ben Arfa could do a job on the wing?

I know its been said many times that its Pardews intention to play him in a more central role but he is not getting minutes on the pitch.

He has more creativity in his little toe the the current options on the RW.

Personally I would like to see hime get some game time to boost his confidence and fitness cause we will need him in Jan when Ba heads of to the ACON.

    Welcome.

I've been saying this for weeks, HBA on the right instead of Obertan, who is ****. Or Jonas RM and HBA LM. Either will do.

  4. Ben Arfa's best play is from the center, skinning players and slotting through strikers or having a shot.

But perhaps it's worth a try for a little bit. Bring Best on, take off Ober, switch HBA to the wing.

    What a **** post...jog on!

    ;)

In all seriousness welcome on board and I completely agree with you, he should start on the wing, I just want him to play.

I mean look how good he was against Man City with limited time on the ball...it makes you wonder how good he will be against 'lesser' teams!

Cant believe I fell for that must be about the 10th time you have got me

    Never again.

But agree with the point against the teams lower down the league we should take a more attacking approach.

Can imagine HBA puts a wicked ball into the box

I need to stop doing it, but it is just such a wonderful song that people should listen to time and time again! He should start on the wing ahead of Obertan, he would track back more than Obertan does.

Quite simply put, yes. However I think Pards may be holding him back until Ba's impending departure, and with our striker budget having to be rerouted to the defensive signings which are a priority.

Oh and congrats on your first thread.

Ben Arfa is a winger, he's played most of his career on the right, I don't get the obsession with playing him up front.

Definitely should be on the right wing ahead of Obertan. Been saying it for a while.

No, giving him defensive responsibilities limits him and he's never played wide in a 4-4-2, he's never had to do much defensive work. Much better with two banks of four behind him, as he is a bit of a luxury player.

Appriciate that he is not the best defensivly however against weaker teams we should have enough to allow us to attck teams a bit more.

Did HBA not play on the wing against Everton last year when he had a blinder?

Yes that is true but he had one of the best left backs in the league behind him and it was a 5 man midfield, so he was more free. I think it could work against lesser sides where we can afford to be more attacking, but in general I'd prefer him in the centre.

Fair enough. I just want to see him on the pitch seems such a waste on the bench and not even getting 20 mins at the moment

Even when he's on the wing, he always drifts to the centre to do something with the ball. It's clear he's not a winger even though he can do a job there.

I agree with dropping Obertan as well, just think HBA isnt the easy answer people would like on the right.

We all do, but as it stands, he's not even fully recovered from his injury. So he will go a few games here and there without getting any minutes, it's to be expected.
