Newcastle playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa says sitting out almost a year with a broken leg has made him a stronger person.
    Full story: Daily Mirror

Former Magpies star David Ginola says Ben Arfa has the potential to be one of the best players in the Premier League.
    Full story: Daily Star

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew insists Liverpool and England striker Andy Carroll needs a confidence boost if he is to achieve the form he showed at St James' Park.
    Full story: talkSPORT

Ben Arfa sounds upbeat on his return which is fantastic news for us and a well-respected footballer has actually said something nice about us (not gone down the Shearer route of abstinence). However, why the hell is Pardew trying to improve an opposition player? I agree with what he says, but it's up to Dalglish to do something about that, not Pardew.

To be fair, Pardew's just stating the obvious regarding Carroll, if they dont know he's lacking confidence there's something wrong.

Pardew in an interview would have been asked his opinion on Carroll and he is entitled to give it. He hasn't specifically come out to say that.

Seems likely Pardew was asked his opinion by a journalist on Carroll seeming to be **** at the minute and he just went ahead an answered. And why the hell not really? It'd probably wind Dalglish up a bit that he's getting tips on how to use a player he just spent 35m on by the manager of the club he used to be good at <laugh>.

I take your point but I would have just stated I don't really want to talk about the past. Obviously saying anything negative could be used as fuel to fire him up but no need to actively encourage making him better, let's face it, 35 million and 0 premier league goals is brilliant....for us :D

I hope Ben Arfa gets a 20 minute run-out against Blackburn.

As soon as he looks like playing regularly in the PL for a good hour or so he'll be straight in my Yahoo FF team. He's cheap as ****.

I'm talking this season and yes, in 2011 he has scored 2 goals, 7 less than Leon "the beast" Best

you have to remember pardew is not coming out and saying this off his own back the more likely scenario is hes being asked by the press for his opinion on the matter and he has given it
