Amos has become a very very good goalie. His handling has been faultless and he has made fantastic saves at crucial times. Roland's penny-pinching decision not to give him a contract could come back to bite us, as he is still a Bolton player, and it wouldn't surprise me if his performances have attracted attention elsewhere.
Amos is out of contract at Bolton this summer, and as you say there is bound to be a lot of interest in his signature. It is no exaggeration to say that his last min save at Bradford away earlier this season - in driving rain - was as good as it gets. Think Gordon Banks v Pele in the 1970 World Cup. It was that good. It’s going to be an early test of the new owner’s ambition whether they sign Amos up. It’s now public just how highly Lee Bowyer rates him, and rightly so.
He seems to like the club so unless there is a life-changing offer available elsewhere it would be nice to think that staying is his preferred option. However, AM-B seems to be a very able replacement if we cannot keep him.
I’m not sure how Philips kept his place to be honest .Amos is a far better goalkeeper and he’s definitely not afraid to meet cross’s and corners like Philips seemed to be
The highest compliment I can pay Ben Amos is that we have not missed Dillon Phillips. Amos is also responsible for the two best saves I have ever seen live from a Charlton keeper - the ones at Bradford away and Rochdale away.
