Animal Kingdom the Kentucky Derby winner and the Preakness winner Shackleford go head to head in the 3rd race of the triple crown the Belmont stakes and if either win they will surely get champion 3yr old of the year, i doubt horse of the year with the breeders still to come.
Munho Macho man and Nehro also join the due in quite a strong field with the top 7 of the Derby race also running a total of 12 are set to run.
Animal kingdom comes out of gate 9 and Shackleford out of 12 with Mucho Macho man in 10. Nehro gets gate 6.
Also on the card are 5 other group races .
Belmont Stakes runners and opinion of each
    1) Master of Hounds, could be a danger goes into this fresh
    2) Stay Thirsty, hard to like
    3) Ruler of Ice , this will be to hard
    4) Santiva, if gets his race a possible place
    5) Brilliant Speed, can he handle the dirt
    6) Nehro, needs to be close to the pace
    7) Monzon, sire won this race good long odds outsider
    8) Prime Cut, Did okay in the peter pan but this no chance
    9) Animal Kingdom, likely fav will be involved in outcome
    10) Mucho Macho Man, distance could be to far
    11) Isn't He Perfect, took a beating all year from others
    12) Shackleford,if he can control the pace of race,

I've spent the last hour chasing down replays of the Derby and the Preakness Islander, and I have to say, the more I looked at the races, the harder it became to sort the men from the boys. I was impressed by the way Shackleford looked though. A very strong animal, who seems to be able to sprint at the right time. The big open spaces of the track will probably be against him, but it won't help a lot of others either. Animal Kingdom has to be the one to beat, but I like Shackleford each way. He has a horrible draw though.

    Shackleford EW 9-2.

P.S. There was one I liked who figured in a three way photo for fifth. He was the one on the fence. I don't know his finishing position, but he goes around again today and must be a place chance.

I think it was brilliant speed, if not it was santiva both good ew options
Agree with you on Shackleford but he has to get to the front early and from his gate it will be dificult either way it should be interesting ,going down now to put a bit on the race at the local track/casino, Exotic wagers mostly be some big pools just have to find the correct outsiders to drop in a place position or even better win

Well Cyc track is classed as sloppy, so either a stayer to win( Shackleford ) or something with early speed and can get ahead enough so no one can get back at him.

    2 $19.40 $10.80
    5 $7.90
Sloppy track,Favourite nearly falling at start and jockey loosing his irons and a slow run ,an outsider wins and another comes second. Thats racing.
Its a shame that the winner did not win enough to get into the Kentucky Derby the outcome of that race could have been different.

Well it turned out to be one hell of a race Islander. We don't have dirt racing like the North America, so it came as a real shock to see just how rain affected the going was. Amazing. I can't help but think that it played a huge part in the outcome. It was a slogging affair over the last quarter. With the favourite out of it from the start, the race became wide open. I think I'm still a Shackleford fan though. He had to use petrol to cross from the outside, then do all the bullocking. And he battled away in the straight. He's a big robust horse who'll do well in the future.
