http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4426866/Craig-Bellamy-set-to-be-next-in-at-QPR.html CRAIG BELLAMY is set for a shock switch to QPR. Hoops boss Mark Hughes is chasing the Liverpool ace, 33 today, and hopes to tie up a deal to take him to Shepherdâs Bush within the week. The striker played under Hughes for Wales and at Manchester City. And now he is ready to reject a return to his home town club Cardiff and the chance to stay at Liverpool to link up with Hughes again. Bellamy returned for a second spell at Anfield last season after being on loan at Cardiff. New Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is keen on Bellamy staying but admitted that a âuniqueâ opportunity could lure him away. Rodgers said: âIt was good to meet Craig and to get his side of the Liverpool story. He loves the club. âHeâs a good guy. He has a real passion for Liverpool and thatâs the type I want here. âI like his intensity, his work-rate and his passion so Iâd love him to be here. "It would take a really special and unique opportunity for Craig to walk out of Liverpool and for us to go our separate ways.â That opportunity could now come with QPR in a transfer that would command only a nominal fee as Bellamy has just a year left on his contract. Rangers are also hoping to land Blackburn star Junior Hoilett. The winger, 22, is out of contract after stalling on a new deal with Rovers. Everton, Sunderland and Newcastle are also interested. But they are unwilling to pay his £40,000-a-week wage demands on top of £4million compensation due to Blackburn. Rangers have already signed Manchester Unitedâs Ji-Sung Park, West Ham keeper Rob Green and taken United defender Fabio on loan.
i dont think we need a player his age in this role. we really need a young striker who will hang around for a few years. and of course scores loads of goals
A Bellamy on fire for us would be a great addition, who knows he might get the best out of Betty as well...Obviously MH knows how to get the best out of CB, as he was a similar sort of firebrand player in his day... Stan
Reckon this is incase the Hoillet deal falls through. Can't see us signing both. Hoillet is the better option from a business sense and also moving forwards. He could have immense sell on value or could be a great player for us over the next 5 years. Bellammy is a simple one year option.
I think Bellamy would be an excellent addition. No-one can question his commitment or professionalism and at his best can still wreak havoc in any defence...
No doubt he would be hell for other teams to deal with as he comes on after 60mins... certainly would boost our bench strength, which was shown to be lacking big time last season.
if the hoilett deal falls through i would definetly take bellamy good player, but the way rodgers is talking about him i can't see him leaving, there again he did turn us down so might do a u turn & sign.
Bellamy's knees are shot aren't they? Thats why he could only play 1 in 3 games when on loan at Crapdiff Great when fit.
Let's see if we can learn from experience. We had a nightmare with a player who assaulted a team mate with a lit cigar. Now we want one who assaulted a colleague with a golf club? Good player, nasty piece of work, wants to back to Wales, let him. Just the club putting indirect pressure on Hoilett.
That was going to be my point too FFS/SB. How can we spend so much time roundly condemning Barton and then getting excited about a man with almost as bad a reputation and an equal arrogance and potential to divide the dressing room. I don't like him as a person and don't think he's consistent enough (how many clubs have moved him on and why). I'll go one step further and state that I would prefer Barton to Bellamy on the basis that we know what we have in Barton, the dressing room issues seem to be behind him and the club have already given him his final chance. Better the devil you know.
I really don't like Bellamy. When we beat Cardiff during our promotion push he scored their opener at Loftus Road (which was a class finish) but spent the rest of the match mouthing off at everyone, falling to the floor pleading for fouls, gobbing off to his own team mates and generally being a stroppy tosser. We've got enough experienced players now, time to bring in someone with youth on their side and fire in their belly.
I think every attacking midfielder in the country is either already on our books or rumoured to be signing soon. Can't see how this makes any sense assuming Mackie is in the squad. Younger, fitter and more hungry.
Who would have thought that former Cardiff strikers Boothroyd and Bellamy could be wearing hoops shirts and leading our line next season in some games. It wasnt that long ago Rs fans were giving them tremendous stick at LR in our 2-1 defeat of Cardiff.
