Are Haas behind on their payments to Ferrari, so need to limit engine use? All very strange that both cars have issues and neither have run yet in FP1 or FP2.
Just reading that maybe Haas will have Hulkenberg and Perez in cars next year! While that is good for them both to have seats their skill levels aren't going to be able to make up for the car! Especially if Williams get better funding, OK so that might be limited help using basically same 2020 car next year but we can hope
Alfa romeo are on 1st pu ferrari and haas are on 2nd! Have ferrari had to detune 2nd version of pu? They are soo slow. Something is seriously wrong with ferrari pu's. Surely this can't still be from FIA winter investigation 'fixes' ?
Should be a good battle between the Ferrari's and the Williams this weekend. What year is it? Oh wait, p15-p18
I've said it before, but the FIA have over-nurfed the Ferrari engine. It's ruined this season and next season. I honestly think if Bernie had still been involved, he would of done something about Mercedes advanatages longbefore it got to this point.
The next few weeks might make a difference to the others. The FIA recently asked for lots of info and drawing etc plus crack down on multi pu modes so maybe this is what's hurting ferrari pu's and will hurt others soon? I still can't quite work out how Merc are always so much faster than the rest. How many years did bernie 'allow' ferrari to dominate with Michael?
Mercedes are better than everyone else right now, they got the rule changes spot on and stole a march on everyone. I don't have an issue with that, they've done well and they've enjoyed their advanatage. But enough is enough, the entertainment side of F1 is at a all time low, it's time for a change. Ferrari were dominate from 2000 to 2004, again, they got the design just right and just did a better job than anyone else. But in 2005 a raft a rule changes were brought in to destroy Ferrari, and it worked. They took a couple of seasons to recover and challenge for wins again. Ross Brawn has said that the FIA changed the rules to hurt Ferrari, and I think, that's why he's so reluctant to do make changes now.
I know they did a better job but to keep on doing a better job - surely there are diminishing returns available. It just amazes me that no one is catching them, OK Red Bull may be but they have been king of aero so now Honda is producing more power they are getting there but really no one else is even close.
There were rule changes almost every year to stop ferrari winning in the early 00s the 05 rule change was the worst one ever but tbf it stopped Schumacher winning. Without that he of probably got at least another 2 titles and 20 plus wins.
A lot of people forget this. Also Renault were stopped pretty sharpish with the engine Freeze which wrecked their 2007 and following years.
What the heck is wrong with Ferrari? They are behind their customer teams! If it wasn't for George then the 6 Ferrari powered teams would be the slowest 6 cars!!! It's almost like they are testing their maps for next weekend! I can't imagine that is what the cause is as it was last practice session. If it were first or maybe even second practice you might test a single power mode.... All very strange, hopefully they will be a bit more competitive in quali
Have I imagined it or are Mercedes the only team to have ever won championships either side of a major rule change? The 2017 regs were a massive change. In fact in recent times the rule changes seem to have had the opposite effect in that teams were catching Mercedes only to then lose ground after a rule change.
Maybe it's that they are the only team to win either side of a major aero rules change. Or maybe it's just a completely made up piece of trivia!
Could be some sort of wet tyre needed tomorrow - not sure how setups will play out, talk of Renault being low downforce which would make things tricky in the wet you’d think but who knows!
