Been to Surrey for the weekend - just got back and switched on after 77 mins when it was 2-2. Bale just scored his 3rd and the winner in the 3rd of 4 added minutes
Well that was a rollercoaster That game proved what an utterly pointless waste of time VAR is, at least the way it's implemented in football. Their pen could have been given for a high boot (not that I'd agree with that) but their player was not touched as far as I could tell on the numerous replays. So why is he rolling around holding his head, then has an ice pack on and is stuffing cotton wool up his nose Oh wait, it's been referred to VAR! This means the replays will over turn the pen and the yellow card to the Welsh player and the diving player will in fact get the yellow card.... nope. And for balance... they had a corner where a Welsh player pulled one of theirs back and that went to VAR. Again, pointlessly.
Like Taff we have been away for a few days in North Yorkshire and got home just in time to watch the last 5 mins. Good to see Bale put that Euro penalty miss behind him but it sounds as though it was a fortuitous win.
Terrible defending first half for their 2 goals. Could easily have been another 2. Much better second half after our subs, Jonny Williams caused them all sorts of problems. Nearly conceded a 3rd before Bale's winner but in the end a deserved 3 points and on to Estonia.
We were coasting at one nil. They had that pen I alluded to above and moments later got a second from our sloppy possession. We huffed and puffed and dominated the play but got the second from another penalty. Apart from Bales' winner, three minutes into injury time, I'm not sure we had many shots on goal. Wales deserved to win but it was cutting it close!
Watched the game on S4C, to be honest, we might have a depleted squad, but we should never have huffed and puffed against this side, no disrespect to Bela, but we just scraped it by the skin of our teeth, that last goal scramble of the game was symbolic of the whole game, I cannot fathom how their keeper made such terrific saves earlier on in the game to let that last damp squad of Bales go in to give us the victory, but hay it's a funny old game, which I will take, but we are going to have to improve immensely if we are going to progress.....
I am on a Gower pensioners pub crawl, so if there are any inherent posts, I haven't lost my sanity Now there's a cue for the grumpy old farts!.....
I think the word that you were looking for is incoherent … Looks like the beers are having their effect
OK, it's a sign of how far we've come that we consider Belarus to be the type of team we were in the dark days. 13 players out is very difficult to deal with, but all that mattered was we got the win. We should be much stronger for Estonia and would hope for a much better performance in front of a home crowd. Need Belgium to beat Czechia tonight really so we have a good chance of second place (playoff position) at least. If we can stay within touching distance of Belgium, who knows - we've got a home match against them and we've done pretty well against them the last few years. COME ON WALES
Even if Wales don't win the group or get runner-up they still have a very good chance of getting in the playoffs as one of the best two group winners from the Nation's League (who haven't already qualified automatically or got into the playoffs). The play-offs will be quite fierce (3 teams from 12) and a lot of decent teams in there.
