http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/more-96-per-cent-beggars-10482765 Based upon this evidence, shouldn't the govt reduce all handouts aimed at these predominantly scamming bastards by 96%? I am sickened by the scroungers I have to step over each morning on my way to work. Carefully maneuvering my way around their expensive cans of larger (4 x Special Brew approx £7) whilst breathing in the fumes from their expensive cigarettes (20 x Cigs approx £7). Starving my arse! If you want to help those in real need, give to the appropriate charities and ignore the lazy bastards on the streets.
I've done some work with Shelter and Housing associations over the years, so I tend to agree about money being used in a proactive way when it comes to homelessness. That said, if you're sleeping rough, life is pretty ****, so beer and ***s tend to become one of the last little pleasures easily accessible. But yep, I've worked with some people over the years who claim not to be able to afford food, clothes etc, but spend a disproportionate amount of money of tobacco and alcohol.
One problem with that is that a lot of charities tend to be very **** with money too, unfortunately. A lot of donated cash never gets anywhere near the problem that it's supposed to address. Genuine homelessness and destitution gets a horrible name because of scamming arseholes likes this. It's only going to get worse though, as the cuts to mental health and addiction services continue and the housing crisis goes on. I'm not sure that the current immigration policy is particularly helpful, either.
Some charities are **** and there's a big controversy over wages of the top execs (although their argument is that these people raise the awareness and work of the charities and therefore bring in more money/PR etc) I'm slightly sceptical about having to pay a £200k wage to do that though. As far as Shelter goes though, the work I did alongside them was very good and money well spent in my opinion. Not only do they work with street homeless, but they do a lot of preventative work to make sure people maintain tenancies / find employment etc.
String 'em all up, that's what I say! It's the only language they understand, you know what I mean guv?....
Technically speaking, seeing as we are carbon based biological beings, that would add to the overall Co2 emissions .....
