...there's a half page article in a national newspaper exclusively about Norwich City! For the first time in a season and a bit since we've been promoted the Telegraph has looked at our tactics on the page next to the one with potential line-ups! Shocking news, I know! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ight-be-Norwichs-answer-to-Arsenal-visit.html
Well, sort of, wonky, but it's actually tagged "Football --> Premier League --> Teams --> Arsenal ..... !!! Still who are we to complain if we get any sort of media attention.
Not a bad article but still flawed. My thoughts are that Hughton would love to move away from 4-4-2, playing either a 4-4-1-1 or 4-5-1. I would agree that todays game should have Hoolihan in the hole with Grant as the lone attacker, however the article neglects to mention the effectiveness we had last season, not playing the diamond but having Pilks and Bennett in wide positions and getting good crosses into Holt and Morrison. This will be vital today for getting service into Holt. Pilkington and Elliott Bennett should both start. Bennett will provide better defensive cover than Snodgrass, which we will need against Podolski, Oxlaide-C and or Gervinho. Pilks will give us better balance on the left. I'd start with Fox alongside Tettey to not only give us midfield shape but also to be more pro-active when we have the ball. Not so sure about who to start with alongside Bassong though. Probably just about go with Barnett, but might be tempted to give Ryan Bennett a start.
I think a midfield of Fox and Tettey in defensive roles, Wessi in the hole and then 2 wingers from Bennett/Pilks/Snoddy would work, with Holt alone up top. We'd then have Johnson to cover the defensive role, Howson the attacking one, and Surman can cover any missing wingers.
Mertesacker was in the Germany team that conceded a 4 goal lead against Sweden the other night, and Koscielny hasn't been at his best this season. The two Arsenal full backs, Jenkinson and Gibbs are highly rated but still learning. So IMO we should definitely be looking to attack rather than shoring up the defence and playing on the break.
Gibbs is out so will have to be santos at left back who has played not much this year so we have to try and get at him. I agree with everyone on here I would look to attack them as well they're a class team will probably score but we went for it at the emirates and got a 3-3 so why not?
