We were tipped for the drop on the year we were promited.... Now it seems Laudrup has his head on the block !!!! so with that i can see no need to worry.. The Premier League football season hasnât even started yet, but the bookies have Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup down as a frontrunner to lose his job. At odds of 6/1 (William Hill), he shares a spot with West Brom manager Steve Clarke (Ladbrokes - 6/1), and West Ham boss Sam Allardyce (Stan James - 6/1). Southamptonâs Nigel Adkins is the favourite at odds of 9/2. Despite having had relatively short periods of tenure at his previous club, Laudrup has only ever been sacked from a role at Spartak Moscow, after a loss to rival club Dynamo Moscow. In other positions he has left of his own accord to quickly move into roles at other clubs, generally moving up the managerial ladder rather than sliding down it. Swansea City supporters can take solace from the fact that Laudrup has adapted quickly not only to different clubs, but also to different leagues, disregarding, of course, the Russian league. The Premier League is notoriously merciless for new managers, but he has showed strong leadership in La Liga, which hosts some of the greatest players and managers in the world. The loss of Joe Allen and Gylfi Sigurdsson, plus fears at Swansea City that Scott Sinclair may currently be a target for Manchester City have not helped Michael Laudrupâs pre-season campaign, perhaps contributing to the fact he is one of the bookies' favourites to lose his job before the end of the season. But Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez is rumoured to be interested in joining the South Wales club, and despite a far from perfect pre-season campaign, there were plenty of positives to take. In the centenary year though, Swansea City will be looking to build on the success of last season, but to do that, and to avoid proving the bookies right, their Danish manager may need to replace poached players. This is something he has previously tackled in interviews. âWe need players who can fit in,â said Laudrup. âThe problems are that players donât want to leave the bigger clubs and many of the other players in the Premier League are expensive.â He has already shown that he is willing to look further afield in the hunt for quality players, but with the transfer deadline closing, time is running out to bring some more talent aboard. With the playing style likely to be comparable to that of Brendan Rodgersâ 2011/2012 side, the new manager is all too aware of the kind of players he needs to bring in, and the brand of football those players need to play. But the team were a new force in the Premier League last season, and they took many by surprise, the success of the Dane might be down to his ability to change the style of play on the fly. And that is a challenge he has already said that he is looking forward to: âEvery club will know exactly who did well against Swansea last year, how they had success and most will say âOk, weâll play like thatâ. âSo we know there cannot be one way, we have to be ready to change before games, during games if we have to.â From the outside he certainly seems under less pressure than some of his peers in the Premier League, the calm and understated manager will unlikely be worried by the bookiesâ predictions. Indeed, bookmakers Paddy Power, unlike William Hill, are not too worried: "It would take spectacular ineptitude to turn this Swansea team into relegation fodder. Unless Laudrup seriously underperforms, 4/11 for the Swans to avoid relegation looks like a safe bet," the company stated on their blo Read More http://www.walesonline.co.uk/useful...to-lose-his-job-91466-31636233/#ixzz23i4GOGaE
Just one thing to say on this, Sam: The bookies had us odds on for relegation last year. Pay no attention.
you never see the true bookies odds until we have played half a dozen games. the odds we are now reflects us losing Rodgers , caulker, siggs and now allen......you will find that the big teams and established teams more or less good odds and the new promoted teams and the teams at the bottom last season will be at the bottom....If you are a betting man do what i do and get your bet on now while they are generous because if we show signs of having a good season after the first 6 games our odds will drop.....its all guess work at the moment that dont mean anything...
