Brentford to groundshare with Queens Park Rangers? please log in to view this image © Getty Images By Daniel Lewis, Reporter Filed: Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 19:25 UK Last Updated: Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 19:25 UK Brentford have reportedly reached an agreement to groundshare with West London rivals Queens Park Rangers, should they be promoted to the Premier League this season. The Bees' current 12,763-capacity Griffin Park home does not meet top-flight requirements, meaning that renovations would be needed to bring it in line with the rules currently in place. A report in the London Evening Standard suggests that, while Brentford would be willing to splash out £3m on bringing their current ground up to scratch, relocating to a temporary stadium could be on the cards. It is claimed that Chelsea have already ruled out Stamford Bridge as an option, while no agreement has been reached with Fulham. Twickenham Stoop, which plays host to rugby union side Harlequins, is also out of the question, but QPR's Loftus Road is a possibility should Brentford prevail in the end of season playoffs. Mark Warburton's men meet Middlesbrough in the first leg of their semi-final affair on Friday night.
Loftus Road would be half empty with them in it, no matter what league they are in. I used to work at Kew Bridge and they are a tiny club.
Great, years ago, it was the Wasps to share our ground ............... now it's the Bees. WTF are we ................. a honeypot?
It is hardly surprising as Queens tend to attract lots of Bees. Remember the proposed merger with Reading. We could have been Queens Park Royal Jellies. I have no problem with Brentford using Loftus Road as long as their fans beehive themselves. Considering our financial state (if we go down) it is hardly our call to make. We should mind our own beeswax. But knowing how things go for us there would be a sting in the tail.
Sting in the tail? Our pitch maybe - can it survive the extra games in winter? Back to artificial grass for me, but Bees wouldn't like it.
