In this blog a fan is not very happy about Marcello, and to be honest most of the comments ring true when I've seen him play for our U21s: "Trotta-ing Out The Same Excuses Back at the tail end of last season after an uninspiring first half at MK Dons Iâm afraid to say I fell out with a mate and his pal. Both had spent the first 45 berating Marcello Trotta for his lack of workrate in a game that we ultimately lost but should have comfortably won. Charlie and I fell out because I donât feel you should slate Brentford players while theyâre on the pitch. It was heated, but only because we both cared. We sorted it out later and I know heâd still share a beer with me⦠thatâs the beauty of a cub like Brentford. There really should be too few of us to have lasting rows. But â and hereâs a confession â I think the Italian is or should now be on borrowed time at Brentford. Thereâs no doubting he can make things happen out of nothing in the box and has a sweet left foot. They were the two main planks of my argument that day. His languid style can look like heâs not giving his all, and Iâd hope thatâs not the case, but no goals in eight games is hardly repaying Uwe Roslerâs faith in him. The Bees boss raised many an eyebrow when he took him back after his involvement in one of those events that will, Iâm sure, flash across my mind as I breathe my final breath. Rosler put his neck on the line in a move I thought at the time was a retrograde step, not in footballing terms if Trotta wanted to right the wrong, but psychologically. More disturbing is the Italianâs aura, which can be perceived as arrogance, which too frequently mars his game. To be a great striker you need to know when to be greedy in the final third, and Trotta hasnât learned that yet. True, the service heâs been getting of late has been poor, but I would question whether he is the right kind of fox in the box that we need at the current time." Very much the opinion i have had,and expressed about Trotta over the past year. And to think he was given a 3yr contract a couple of months ago.
I don't watch the youngsters so know my opinion may be well off the mark but over the last few seasons of checking the youngsters reports, looking at the scores/scores and reading other peoples opinions I have long been more excited and hopeful by three or four other forwards of making it to first team football than Trotta! It's just always felt like he isn't quite going to be good enough.
funny enough I expected better of him. about nearly 2 years ago I met now England coach ray lew, who said in 18 months time he could be in the first team and one to look out for, he has never kicked on
