The official Off-Topic Chat Thread now known as "Beefy's Corner".

Firstly, the normal rules of the site apply. You cannot start a discussion about contentious issues, Politics, Religion, or show Porn, etc... The flip side of this arrangement is that there will be a much stricter enforcement of the "no going off topic" rule which has always been the case anyway, on the other threads.

Secondly, the normal rules of the Saints board will apply, (except that you can go off-topic obviously). This is not going to become a "private GC Lite." Personal insults will not be tolerated, and neither will goading someone to draw them out. The whole tone of this board has suffered in the past as differing views have been aired and there have been far too many angry exchanges. Vitriolic exchanges are not welcome and will be dealt with as appropriate. If you have fallen out with a poster put him on your ignore list and don't rise to the bait!
If you see content which is not appropriate, please send the mods a PM rather than fronting up the poster and let us deal with it to save a bun-fight. Lastly, if a thread is closed or deleted by one of the Mods, and you have some good reason that it should reopen, then send us a PM with your reasons. Simply re-posting the same thread again to be confrontational would be considered very provocative and would probably lead to action being taken.

It would seem that large numbers of posts and subjects causes problems for mobile phone users to access this site. So from time to time it will be necessary to close the threads down and start a new one.

Modesty forbids [actually, more like embarrassment] me to comment on the outcome of the last Beefy.

I wasn't moaning about it being shut TSS, it just seemed sudden, I was worried we weren't allowed one for some reason.

Anyway, onto important matters. The bronze goes to Beefy on 95. Joe picks up silver (taking the overall lead in seconds and therefore leading in every single position) on 105, while with a ridiculously comprehensive win, a final total of 188 (which is probably a record, who knows), and his first ever win: TheSecondStain!

    Firsts:

Nope. It was mostly circumstance. One, I was on my computers a lot more because I was forced to stay at home with flu, and two, I'm sure they wouldn't mind admitting it, but a lot of the posters on Beefy just talk to each other in messages, and they keep the conversations going. Usually, I don't get into such things, but because I was around I just got into chatting back and forth. Once you get into the habit, the posts don't half mount up..! Thankfully, I'm shaking the flu off now so I'll probably not figure again. Must admit, the exchanges took my mind off it though, which was a good thing.

I didn't get the impression you were, Dan.

I even told -DTLW [thread starter] I was going to close it and I invited him to start a new one when he chose. How's that for manners..? ;)

Pardew comes across as an intelligent manager...certainly better to listen to than the likes of Redknapp. Says it's important to keep working as time out of management means that you can lose your way...so took the job at Southampton even though it was beneath him...actually didn't come across as harsh as that to be fair. Makes sense for his career, but would never sit well with Nicola. There were rumours that the final rift with NC was because Pards was job seeking. Said that Nicola was a tough Chairman...which was the kindest thing he could say about him :) Nice bit about Rickie who he said improved once he came off the pies and stopped going to Blackpool!

Pardew just said that when playing Liverpool he wanted Newcastle to press, but they failed because he said you have to have a supremely confident team to play that way. <whistle>

Interesting things he said about Kinnear and Ashley. Weird relationship and will all end in tears.

I traded GTAV in yesterday and got Dark Souls plus a couple of others. It's a vastly superior game.

Just want to make sure my mind is not playing tricks on me. 1] Is it true that the BBC still broadcast snooker, 2] Is it true that Ronnie O'Sullivan has just won another World Championship, 3] Even though I'm not a fan of snooker, have I really not seen loads of matches on TV or have none been shown by the Beeb..?

Ronnie won it a few months back now and yes the Beeb shoewed it all. They don't show as many tournaments as they used to though.

Interesting day's refereeing. I may well have set a record for the shortest time to give a player 2 yellow cards. It was half time in extra time and the player gave me too much backchat and I booked him for dissent. 3 seconds later he called me a dickhead. I sent him off needless to say. 2 yellow cards in about 3 seconds!

BBC does still broadcast snooker. Usually they are around the new year, and of course the world championships in April. The UK championship is in December I think, and the Masters early next year. It may be different though.

It's OK AL. Earlier, I read a bang-upto-date piece in BBC Sport about O'Sullivan, which linked to another one dated from last May. Now I know why I haven't seen snooker clogging up the schedules. It simply hasn't been there.

I suppose it isn't as popular these days. It's difficult to sustain an audience over an entire tournament I think.

Make sure to choose the right bit. General rule is to stick to the coasts, with the possible exception of Denver and the Rockies.
