Yeah I love The Ladykillers. All those Ealing Comedies infact, especially The Lavender Hill Mob, Kind Hearts and Coronets and Passport to Plimlico. There's another old film I don't know if it's Ealing, but it's really funny, it's called Too Many Crooks.

Like yourself, I love Ealing films. There is a essential down to earth quality to them that is present in British and European films, but they are very clever also. My old Dad used to say that they lacked the layer of yankee bulls***, and although his language was vague I knew what he meant. You've highlighted a few, so I'll add Whisky Galore and The Maggie. Both excellent. Boulting Brothers comedies are also invariably excellent too, as in Private's Progress and I'm All Right Jack, both of which follow the fortunes of Stanley Windrush [Ian Carmichael]. The jokes are ever present and multi-layered. Liz Frazer working in the factory as a spindle polisher, for example. Outside of those creative areas there are other classic British films like Genevieve, School For Scoundrels, The Green Man, the list is endless.
 
Love all these but also the old Will hay films. Ask a Policeman / Boys Will Be Boys Oh, Mr Porter! / Convict 99 Old Bones of the River ...
 
"The Man in the White Suit", and "I'm All Right Jack". Not to mention "Heavens Above". All absolute belters.

Not horror, Beef. It was a wartime propaganda film released as a feature, about a village taken over by undercover agents helping a German invasion. Brilliantly done, as well.

Think it was actually made during WW2 .

Woman asks a German soldier ( they have invaded ) " Do you eat Babies " ?

His reply

" What would be the point " .....................

On the subject of films , one of my all time favourites that never seems to get a mention is DOGMA .

Alan Rickman was brilliant .
