I've never liked LOTR, I feel like I'm missing out on something.

You're missing out on an average trilogy based on a good novel.

You're better off watching Pan's Labyrinth and then afterwards coming on here to tell me how right I was.

Next time I fancy watching a film I'll do just that.

I lost faith in IMDB when The Dark Knight came out and all their fan boys were giving it a 10 and giving The Godfather 1, and vice versa with Godfather fans and in the end The Shawshank Redemption ended up taking the top spot. Films like TDK, TDKR, Toy Story 3, Wall-e, Inception and a lot of the films with awards recognition are favoured too highly and indie, low budget, forgotten classics and foreign films are underrated - not that I'm an expert on foreign cinema!

Just seen that Forrest Gump is 18th. I really have little faith with this site.

This is disgusting, who does she think she is? Makes me annoyed just watching it. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/video-sikh-pensioner-punched-spat-2176686

I'm afraid this is an attitude that develops in teenagers. They seem to think that their actions have no consequence. It's part the fact that mentally they are still children, and part that they know they can overpower elderly people, and they haven't developed empathy in their personalities yet. Decades ago, they would have been held back by a formal level of respect for older generations, but no more. This is the 21st century World. Nice isn't it.

I thought they only counted the votes of certain individuals to stop just this kind of thing happening?

Obviously she's an evil scummy bitch. But, why is nobody intervening. And whoever is stood filming is just as bad. I think I'll move to Svalbard.

I thought The Dark Knight Rises was very boring. Superhero films in general tend to get a much better reception than they deserve. Toy Story 3 and Inception are two films I really liked when I saw them, but they've turned out not to be very memorable. I'm ashamed to say I haven't seen Wall-E.

Can't argue with Shawshank getting top spot though. That's a film that's really stuck with me.

Brilliant film. Shamelessly loved it.

The best films are good for the soul because have a proper story, whether that story is uplifting or depressing. It's a proper experience. This means that 90% of superhero/action/animated films are automatically rejected because they often rely on something else other than story to beguile the audience. It's no wonder a film like The Shawshank Redemption makes top spot. I've seen that film half a dozen times and if I watched it off the cuff, like now, it would be great.

I watched that a couple of weeks ago, The lullaby was stuck in my head for ages

Inception is one of my fave films. It's score on IMDB got destroyed by people that didn't want it getting near Shawshank.

A good thing with IMDB is that they're more open to rating films highly which critics aren't sentimental with. I can't imagine critics raving over films like American Beauty, The Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, American History X and Schindler's List even had some anti-Spielberg distaste, but they should be.

I'm upset that I'll never be able to watch fight club properly because I found out the ending beforehand
