Cannabis is no less harmful than smoking cigarettes; the fact that cannabis is a Class B drug makes you wonder how soft Class C drugs are. I've never smoked or done drugs, but it's logical that drugs like cannabis should be legal, but not drugs like ecstasy, cocaine and heroin.

Meh, I don't think ecstasy's that bad (or it wouldn't be if it wasn't cut with rat poison and detergent and ****).

They shouldn't definitely end, or at least severely reduce prison sentences for drug possession, it clearly doesn't work.

Prolonged cannabis is known to cause mental illness (or aggravate it in those prone to such illness)...concerned that ease of purchase might increase the number who become regular users rather than just take it during their rebellious young phase.

prolonged alcohol consumption is known to cause liver disease and various other harmful side effects, should we not criminalize that as well?

There's only one way to find out.

America tried that and it didn't work.

Which is evidence that ease of purchase doesn't necessarily equal increased consumption.

I also think that prison sentences don't stop people from doing drugs. If they want to, they will, like how most people have tried cannabis but very few are caught.

I have a bad impression of ecstasy because everyone I've met using it is a massive dickhead. Same for coke.

That's because they're "party drugs" and party drug people are indeed dickheads. They tend to be dickheads when sober as well, and the drugs just exacerbate their dickheadishness.

Makes managers tear their hair out!

On a side note..the last episode of previous Sherlock series on at 08.30....if you want to see Holmes's 'death' again. Something to do with a swapped body from the morgue I suspect, as he secretly spoke to the Forensic Scientist. Then he took the place of the body whilst Watson was deliberately distracted.

MDMA isn't that bad, and indeed seems to be one of the great hopes for people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Ecstasy, even when not cut with random powdery stuff, tends to be fairly bad just because people often expect it to be 'speedy', and thus it's cut/replaced outright with other amphetamines, either of the meth variety or the things that kinda sorta mimic the effects of MDMA, but which are far more neurotoxic.
