Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner insists he has no intention of returning to Arsenal once his loan spell with Sunderland is over. Bendtner joined the Black Cats on a season-long loan on transfer deadline day after falling out of favour with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. The 23-year-old appeared mostly as a substitute last season and he believes he has not been given a fair chance by Wenger since he suffered leg and shoulder injuries in a car crash two years ago. Bendtner can't wait to feature regularly under Sunderland boss Steve Bruce - who also took him on loan to Birmingham in 2006-07 - and is now planning for life after Arsenal. "I will never go back to Arsenal. If I can have it my way, I will never play for them again," Bendtner told The Sun. "After my car accident I never really got the chance to earn a spot in the first team. "That is over one-and-a-half years with no real chance to prove myself. "I am really looking forward to playing for Sunderland and then we will see next summer. "I will find a new club - but I will not go back to Arsenal, that's for sure."
I don't like the "I will find a new club!". All the more reason we should have had an option in place on him.
i think enough of my club to hope we are not just a stepping stone, hopefully that can be transmitted to the lad.
There are side effects to a buy out clause though, just look at Muntari, if he had played 1 more game, we would have had to buy him, just specualtion here but maybe Arsenal wanted a buy out clause but the stipulation was, we have to buy him if he has started 15 games or scored 8 goals or got 5 assists and maybe we thought, well he is going to get that by January (the games started anyway) but he may be crap after Christmas so no thankyou, so it ended up with no buy out clause. We do know that Wenger doesnt want him and he doesnt want Arsenal, lets just wait and see, he may be a complete flop yet, or Wickham/Ji may surprise us and he cant replace them in the team.
Aye it could be worse if he was a Mag supporter, after all EVERY ONE of their best players has already jumped ship.
As far as i know there is an £8m option to buy, but if the lad has a good season his sights maybe higher than us. I think he ahould at least sign on a 3 year deal. I also think we should maybe try and push a permanant deal at xmas. The reason its a loan deal is he could not leave Denmark to discuss a permanant move.
Maybe he didnt want to comit to us then until he has been here for a season, its 1 thing saying, we want Europe this season, and another thing entirely doing it. (as he will want a team in Europe next year)
Excellent, so we have a skilful, 23 year old who wants to resurrect his career D'you need some more bitter? please log in to view this image
Going to be interesting to find out what he can do. I personally think he's a good bet and I certainly prefer him to Crouch. Stick man will probably bag a hatful mind, now I've said that...
