This rumour is fast circumnavigating the globe and altnough these rumours were first heard towards the end of last season this rumour is seriously becoming a probable reality.

FACT - Becks would never play for any other prem team other than his beloved Man Utd.

FACT - It was rumoured Sat that the club had made an offer of up to 8.5m for an unnamed ex or present premier league player.

FACT - We do have that kind of money available.

Prediction - My say is that Beckham will join Sven at Leicester and Gally will get to play in his natural position - striker. Think of the experience Becks would bring to all the young players, that itself is priceless, it would take all of the 8.5m in salary to have Becks for a season.

FACT - Leicester will be promotion contenders this season seriously.

FACT - We have never had owners with the ambition and vision as we have now plus a WORLD CLASS manager to go with it.

    COME ON YOU FOXES!!!!!!!!

Would sooner we payed 8.5m on a quality striker than a PR stunt.

AKCJ Unless you hadn't noticed there AINT any strikers outside the top 6 prem teams worth that. In reality we should be able to buy Maynard and Long out of 8.5m and still have change. Owners have big ambitions mate and they dont come any bigger than Beckham.

I agree it's ambitious but I would rather we went and signed a top class winger and forward to boost our chances of promotion rather than boost our chances of selling more shirts <ok>

First of all, Gally is not a striker, I wish people would stop saying that. His best position is open to debate, but it's not a central striker.

I'm with Andy on this one, this is more about PR than anything else, and when that's the case we shouldn't be doing it. We need hungry players in our squad as well as harmony. I think if anything, signing Becks would harm this. I think some players would become disillusioned if we were to make this kind of signing. I think we have enough (arguably too many) midfielders as it is, we just need a striker in.

This is the kind of signing I wouldn't mind us making if we were established in the Premiership, but when we are going all out to get there this season, it's vitally important that we don't have any distractions and we don't make anyone in the squad unhappy if it can be helped.

I don't think Beckham would make enough of a positive difference on the pitch to make his place in the squad worthwile. Every new player that joins the club has to settle in as well - getting the team to gel is a hard enough task for Sven as it is - so adding a player for PR purposes is not going to help.

Think it could be mission completed already. King Power are using us as a media tool for them. The very fact that this rumour has surfaced from one of the Sunday papers means that it will raise their profile. Cant see us signing anyone on a 6 week contract as suggested by the Star, but if the owners and Sven did make this happen imagine the world wide publicity they would gain from it. It would also increase shirt sales worldwide, and sell out stadiums that we played in during those 6 weeks - including our own.
Can see that the owners would want it to happen, just cant see Becks agreeing to it.
Disharmony for the squad ? Possibly. But who in our squad wouldnt want to say that they played in the same team as him ?
At the Madrid game, a lass 2 seats away from me squealed every time Ronaldo touched the ball. She came just to watch him. Beckham would have the same effect only a great deal more so.
Would be a master marketing stroke if they could pull it off, just cant see it happening.

Emilio, I can tell you're against this and I can fully understand why - And for what its worth I don't think for a minute it will happen, just lazy journalism - However, If I can just play devils advocate on the should it shouldn't it happen debate - Becks would be a massive profile raiser and even if we did pay him £200K/week for 6 weeks I'm sure the clever owners could recoup that money in Asia - Don't we owe the owners that sort of boost to their business plan given the level of investment in the club already - I can hear you think, no not if it affects the team - But he has just finished a season and will no doubt be starting another when the new MLS season kicks off again, just how much actual field time will a bloke of Beckham's age play in-between close and open season - He'll have about half a dozen half hour cameo roles in the 6 weeks if that

No. This stunt will connect the owners with the fans peeping in the east.
    I for one welcome a 200,000 a week beckham..

Think of the possibilities. Wages = Thailand, Owners = Money and sven =brain

This on Foxestalk from PW11, who I believe sometimes has inside info slipped through the back door. ;)

Becks and victoria are considering a move back to the uk while the young baby is small. this is Due to they wanting to re connect with family.
we are in talks however it seems that despite a very good offer of wages and different roles within the club he seems unconvinced. ball is in his court now a non negotiable offer has been submitted.

on a side note sven has spoken with maynard. cross fingers nothing falls through. :)

So contact has been made and Maynard looks more likely?

Beckham is more a defensive midfielder nowadays (the position that everyone who's legs have gone seems to fill) so I doubt we'd see him bombing down the wing. However, having signed Gelson Fernandes and Johnson, plus with Abe, Oakley and Wellens all at the club, is another DM needed? Having said that any possibility of signing a player of Beckham's ilk and profile has to be pounced upon and if the Raksriaksons are prepared to fork out the £1m+, I'd certainly take him <ok>

(Beckham could probably recoup that in shirt sales)

*Just for the record, I don't actually believe this transfer would go through, but with Sven you never know.....
