Hate to say it, but our main goal scorer will not be playing against Bristol at the week-end, not because he is injured, but because he will be at another club. Question is, who is going to step into the breach when he goes? Can Ross McCormack fill the void, or will Colin sign an over the hill has been?? Views?
DJ Campbell, currently on loan at Ipswich maybe? I dont want to see Becchio go & I think GFH & Warnock will be in for a backlash if we lose another top player this window.
Aide they have just bought another striker so Boothroyd and Cambell will have to be offloaded as the new striker is on75k a week
Maybe when he goes, people will begin to see what a sham gfh are. Still waiting to see them do anything of note in terms of spending money. I dont buy into the "theyre holding on to the cash till we have a new manager in the summer". Ive said for weeks that they will be judged on Feb 1st and time is running out
Seems to be a lot of tweets saying Becchio is on his way. Fave replacements appear to be Vaz Te or Hooper. Even if it happened, nowing our luck, our replacement would do his cruciate in his first match.
Becchio IS going - Not if. Would take Vaz Te or Hooper, but they would cost decent money that GFH havent got.
The "he is ill" excuse is football code for "dont let him get injured or the deal is off" He WON'T be a Leeds player by the week-end. (unfortunately).
I would ****ing snap at one of those two over Becchio As I have said before, I think this would actually be a good deal for the football team (assuming that the money gets reinvested). The figure that is being thrown about is 4m, I find that hard to believe personally because I think it would be less than that. But imo, we don't need to replace Becchio with a 25 goal a season striker or even necessarily a 20 goal a season striker. We have that already in McCormack, we replace him with a striker that can compliment our team better than Becchio and helps McCormack, Diouf or Somma or whoever is playing alongside him. Spend the rest on a winger or CM or both even, a team in the championship can do a hell of alot with 4m. Saying all that though, it would be a good deal for the football team imo. I have doubts whether it would be a great deal for the football club though because I feel as though there might well be a fan backlash which will sink crowds even further.
BYL, where is your evidence confirming that someone has submitted a bid, that he's gone to discuss personal terms, & that he's on his way for a medical? If you've got that evidence, fair enough. If not, please stop telling us what IS going to happen.
Boggers you should know by now that evidence is banned on this forum. We deal only in gossip, hearsay and personal opinion.
How silly of me Wickersley. I completely forgot. To be mildly more serious, if Becchio were to go, I would hope that we would get a quality striker in at the same time. Becchio would be missed for all that he does for the team. I also think we would miss him. He's more or less guaranteed 20 goals a season. He scores penalties. And he puts in a shift for the whole team.
There never will be evidence at this stage, chaps. Club only hears when it's a done deal these days. Buying club agent approaches players' agent, 'turns players' head, confirms interest & ball park wages, then reports back to club. Buying club then puts in bid, players' manager finds out striker wants to move & will chuck his dummy out if he doesn't. Selling club negotiates improved fee. Medical, complete wages negotiation, sign. Transfer announced for 'undisclosed fee' & player blamed for wanting a move. End of.
Are people seriously suggesting Hooper, presume its the Celtic one, would swop Champions League football for us. Get Real. Unless there is a Mick Hooper playing in Division 2 and is 34
