Luciano must surely realise that Norwich was a bad move. Complete new 11 tonight in the cup and he still doesnt come off the bench. What a waste of talent. Yes he is earning more money but could be at Elland Road trying to improve a Leeds team that is so so ordinary and devoid of any flare. Not a chance this season and reminds me of the poor poor team that Howard Wilkinson inherited
Welcome to the forum mate. Personally I thought Becchio was never gonna make it, surprised he was so successful at this level to be honest when you look at his clear lack in quality but he did somehow always find the net. It was definitely his decision to leave imo and wouldn't welcome him back, would prefer we went for Vaz Te or Long if either of those were possible.
being realistic theres absolutely no chance of signing long or vaz te so at least with becchio we know what wer getting.
100% agree Este. He thought he was billy big boots, well sod him. Let him count his money. I can't understand why we have this fascination of bringing ex players back.
Firstly, Becchio was very good for us. He helped us out of Lge One ... forever grateful. Last season he had banged in 19 by Christmas, what we'd give for that now. Regardless of what people think, he scored goals, so he did his job. Secondly, he wasn't being greedy or arrogant ... all he asked for was a new contract. "Whhaaattt???" You could hear Ken shout all the way from Monaco. "More gruel??? You greedy so and so, I'll sell you instead." And so clubs (read Norwich) were alerted that Becchio was available, and Colin in his infinite wisdom decided to do a deal that brought a legend to our club whilst letting the hottest striker in the league go!! Fcuk me, you couldn't make it up. Please stop bashing a player who gave his all for this club, through thick and thin, without complaint. Becchio had to endure playing in some poor teams with rubbish managers, yet he kept going. Hardly a greedy sod!! He fell foul of that ridiculous, Leeds hating duo of Bates and Warnock!! Well good for him telling those two to fcuk off. The only mistake Becchio made was to go to Norwich as a backup player. He was NOT signed to step into the first team, he was signed as cover. Like any striker he needs a run of games to find his feet, but that will only come if there are injuries. Norwich have him on a four year contract, but they need to play him to get a return. Good luck to the lad whatever path his career takes ... I for one would be happy to have him here for three months on loan ... at least I know he will get stuck in and try and produce loads of goals to remind Norwich why they wanted him.
Not bashing the player Billy, just bored to ****e of hearing about him. No problem with him when he played for us AND I've no problem with him wanting to make more money and play at a higher level(even if he's not good enough). But I think his head was turned by the ex Leeds lads telling him to ditch the club join Norwich and earn loads. What really sticks in my craw is the timing of his leaving. Now I don't give a toss about Warnocks or Bates influence in getting him out, but he could have seen the season out and then gone, I wouldn't have had a problem with him then. His display at Barnsley was unprofessional and disrespectful to the fans who spent their money to watch that match. That's how my last memories of him will be.
I'm on the side of getting Becchio back. Yes, he left for Prem football and more money (he's even got mates at this new club). I totally understand where he is coming from. He is reaching 30 soonish and he wants that big pay off before he footballing career is over. If Norwich can pay him twice as much and it sorts his family out for life, I totally understand this. Wouldn't most of us put our family first (Breaking Bad fans anyone?????, would love it if someone understood this side note!!). If bringing him back for a season even got us near promotion with his goals.... who cares that he left?! He might be exactly what we are missing this season.
Well he was earning at least £10,000 a week at Leeds (£500,000 per year) if he can't sort his family out for life earning that sort of money there's something wrong with him. He must have known he wouldn't be a regular starter at Norwich, but he chose to sit on the bench at Carrow Road rather than become a Leeds United legend. Chose to add even more millions to his already considerable fortune. Moved for the sake of his family? Don't make me laugh Greedy bastard
Luciano is not good enough for us!. We are supposed to be building for the future and Luciano is not it. Sorry but I respect what he did and he was part of the best strike partnership we've seen in years, but he's not a prem player. Even Grayson knew he wasn't the answer as SG was always being linked to players like Sharpe, Lambert, Hooper, Cox etc but was slapped down by the old twat. Where would we have been if Lambert ir Cox or Hooper etc had been allowed to come .... we would have been in the prem instead of messing aboiut down here still. Billy Sharpe is on the move and a player we've been linked with in the past, but we are not going to invest any cash in getting us out of this league, so Billy will go to Reading and probably be the catalyst for them bouncing straight back along with QPR. Its fooking depressing talking about the same things all the time because we know we will not get a top player, and without one or two we will still be a chapionship side next season.
An ungrateful fecker as well, after all I don't remember many clubs coming in for him before Leeds United gave his career a lift off. Doc as always good comments.
He managed plenty of goals for us at a time when hoofball was the order of the day. Imagine how many he would now get given that we're now playing proper footy. Front line of him, Ross and either Poleon or Varney. We'd rapidly move up the league. That said, I doubt it would happen and there might be some ill-feeling in the dressing room. So better to fina a winger me thinks.
That's assuming we are creating more/better chances now, and also that Becchio would be able to get on the end of these chances.
LDS, Saturday showed that we are creating plenty of chances. Becchio is a natural goalscorer, so getting on the end of them or laying oon chances for others to finish shouldn't be a problem.
