We played so much better with Keogh in the side. Yes Keogh didn't score as many, but we as a team played much better. Becchio has been shocking, terrible touch, cant pass or shoot, just because he was good last year doesn't mean he should start now. Amazes me how people think he could walk into most -------------------- --- McCarthy --- ---------------------------- -- Connolly -- Replacement -- Lees -- White -- -- Snodgrass -- Clayton -- Replacement/Howson -- Replacement -- Somma/McCormack -- Keogh -- Or.. -------------------- --- McCarthy --- --------------- -- Connolly -- Replacement -- Lees -- White -- ---------- --- Clayton --- Replacement --- ---------- -- Snodgrass -- Nunez/Howson -- Replacement -- --- Somma/Keogh --- Thats my personal opinion on how our side should look after January, with players fit etc... Thoughts? Agree or disagree and why?
Interesting as i thought Becchio was a top player for you. But then i don't keep a close eye on you. Is there any truth in the rumour i heard that McCormack will leave in January ? Ive been out injured with a cruciate lap top injury so im a bit behind. Cheers !
Last season he was great. Good work rate, regularly amongst the goals etc.. Suffered a bad hamstring injury at the end of last season, missed pre-season. This is showing so badly now. Shocking touch, no technique football wise, can't get off the groud for headers and too busy diving/moaning. His work rate has gone! In all honesty he just looks unfit and pissed off... As for McCormack leaving, unsure on this one. Only had one good spell for us then dropped for no realy reason! Constantly got subbed and seems pissed off with the way he's being treated. I presume its lazy journalism, they see our top scorer out the side (dropped then attented chils birth following game), so start rumours linking him to **** prem teams who can't score. Wouldn't suprise me either way though. Hope this helps mate.
I fail to understand the Keough is a better striker who doesn't score goals attitude myself, we need two strikers banging them in, you have midfielders to create them. If we play 4-5-1 you have a couple of decent attacking midfielders and a goal scorer/poacher; If we play 4-4-2 we need two goal scorers and a creative midfielder through the middle and two wide supply lines.
I have said this since he came to the club. Give McCormack your full support and play him for the 90 minutes, you will reep the rewards, start mucking him around and his confidence goes and so will the goals. McCormack and Keogh were doing very nicely, why on earth did Grayson and some numpties on this forum, want changes! Becchio is nowhere near the level of either McCormack or Keogh, unless we count falling over when your hardly touched, that I accept he is world class at.
thankyou and Ristac, that is not true. You dont need two strikers banging them in, you need a main striker getting your goals with the rest of the team helping on that front, like we did in league 1. Keogh, if played for the full season will get ya 10 goals i reckon, McCormack will get ya 20-25 goals. McCormack's confidence has gone down massively because of grayson dropping him and what not, thats a big blow for a confidence player like him
And also, i dont believe Becchio can partner another striker for reasons i discussed in a different thread, especially a striker like McCormack
Because McCormack was doing well, then didn't score a goal for 4 or 5 games before he actually got dropped. Grayson did what he should have done - dropped him when he lost his form.
It's the other way around I'm afraid. He lost his ability to find the back of the net and was still started for 4 or 5 games after that before he was dropped. Yes, he got subbed in a few of those games, but only because he was piss poor.
Marko, i would agree with you however, i said after the brighton game that Grayson should have dropped him to the bench for a game, rested him rather. It wouldn't have looked like he'd been dropped but it woulda just brought him back down and given him a deserved rest. Its all about being proactive and grayson just isn't that, he didnt want to rest him because then fans woulda asked questions if we'd lost the game. hes too scared to make these decisions for me. (consequently, i actually believe that was when he went on his dry spell...)
To be fair to Luci, he didn't do a lot wrong tonight. Hardly had a sniff, but he did hold the ball up well in the first half. Tired second half. You can't expect him to pull up trees in a game like tonight. McCormack did look sharp coming on though.
Fair comment, but lets be honest and realistic, your lone striker needs that cutting edge. Becchio doesn't have it, he never looks like scoring or creating. He holds the ball because he's a tank, similar to Andy Carroll. Poor footballer, people are obsessed with workrate and physical presence, his footballing qualities are very limited. McCormack scores, creates and moves! Defences are cautious of him because he can do something with the ball. Stand off Becchio and he ****s his shorts I'm afraid. Offer me a Charlie Austin or Gary Hooper and I'd accept it in a heartbeat. We need a new striker. We have 2 good ones, one is injured.
Becchio has gone of the boil. although he does try, i'd be tempted to try him in midfield and go back to McCormack and keogh up front
Whilst he was here yeah i've have had a few, but i'd have tried to keep Keogh, as boab said,he was doing ok with McCormack up front, but with our midfield missing key players at the moment i would have tried becchio in there at this time, a bit like scum did with Smithy Have you had a few saying Somma is our best striker?
I though Becchio was in midfield tonight lol. Maybe with Townsend on the left wing and Snodders back on the right wing, Becchio may start to get more goals if he is by himself. I think Becchio is still not fully recovered myself and hence he looks peed off, as this time last year with him up front by himself he was scoring so it will obviously doing his head in.
Townsend was pretty **** tonight although the ref had obviously decided that he hated townsend after he blatantly dived and after that everything went against townsend for some reason. Becchio, although his work rate was high as usual it wasn't in the right areas. As soon as mccormack came on he put them under in good areas and conserved his energy when he didnt need to, becchio for me isn't clever enough to do that, i thought he was poor even though he had no support. Forssell was better than him imo although that was in a 442. We need to try get Keogh back in on loan at least till the end of the season or get an alternative. McCormack cannot play the lone striker role imo and he needs to be in a 442 formation alongside a good link-up striker for him to work otherwise give up on him (and i'd say the same with Somma as well)
