If you'd asked me a fortnight back, I'd have said I'd prefer Morrison over Campbell given the choice because Morrison was more of the type of player we needed. Right now, I'd prefer to face Becchio than him to be honest, but I'd still back Huds (if he's fit) and Turner to get the better of either. However, Frazier Campbell is the player who could win us this league by a mile not just get us over the line. Having thought about it long and hard this past week, I wouldn't swap him for either of those two. To answer your question about being easier to beat them DJ - in a word no, but I don't see it being easy either.
While Becchio scored against us last season, Morrison gave our defence a tough time for Millwall 2 or 3 years ago and he hasn't become a worse player since then. He is more physical and will work harder than Becchio but is perhaps not so sharp in front of goal. He will not be easy and if he gets some early success will be a favourite with Leeds fans because of his physical style. However Hudson and Big Ben should be able to handle him and Ross.
I think we worry too much about individuals. When you look at the top scores in this league I think you will find few of them, maybe none other than Wood have scored against our defence this term. When one of these "20 goals a season" strikers is misfiring their team is almost toothless because they rely on them too much. Look at the likes of Saha Murray Woods Vydra and Nugent, and how their off days and days when they didn't play affected the team result. We can target their goal-getter put 2 on him and virtually snuff out their attack, and our defence is strong enough to generally defend in front of the 18 yard box, thereby reducing their attacks to long range shots and the occasional corner. They say we have 'scraped' a few 1- 0 wins but scoring against Leicester in the 25th minute then shutting up shop for 65+ minutes is not 'scraping a win' it's bossing the game. Also it is easy for these so called 'score for fun' players when their opposition has no decent defence, but with us it's a very different story. When they are desperately trying to stop our attacks they tend to lose sight of winning the game and spend most of their time trying not to lose it. Not having one particular goaL scorer may be an advantage. Their defence must look at us in front of them and ask "Who the fekk do we defend against? If the mark Bellamy then Helguson scores, if they mark him Mason scores, if the mark all three Gunnarson or Connolly or Hudson will score. They are almost literally in a no-win situation in man marking. with the addition of Campbell they have an even bigger headache so long as we don't sit back and expect him to score all the goals. I don't think MM will allow that to happen. Keep The Faith!
I agree about the Champ top scorers not having much success against up Snaggs - I put up a thread about that a few weeks back. In fact, not much success is an understatement - they've been totaly neutralised. Murray got a hat trick against us at Selhurst, but two of them were penalties. Other than that, none of the top dozen Champ scorers has slotted against us. Austin was bossed out of the Burnley game and the threat from the rest was snuffed out by superb defensive displays. Back to the striker bit and the long running discussion about a replacement for Maynard. I think Frazier Campbell is the nearest we could have got and an absolute bargain for the money.
I think this is a great bit of Business for Leeds. Morison had a good first season in the PL imo and it could be argued is a better player than Becchio. Becchio might well be more clynical but they've done a great bit of business in getting rid of a want away player and bringing in a proven replacement and cash. If Morison is fit I'd be expecting him to run himself stupid trying to impress his new fans, he could be a handful. If we're anywhere near our best we'll be just fine though.
Apparently not only a striker but some one to rival Gunnars throw ins or outs.... DONE DEAL - Habib Habibou - SV Zulte to Leeds Leeds make their third signing of the day as the Central African Republic striker Habib Habibou joins on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal. The 25-year-old is perhaps best known for a video of him throwing a duck from the pitch.
