Because you were there, as the weary bird flew, Weighed down with despair and 96 sorrows, And gave it home comfort, a prince's tower, Of strength and friendship, steadfast in our hour. Because you were there, as a country sneered, With lies and derision, for twenty three years, And you gave hope in the darkness, a golden vision and Royal blue blanket of care. Because you were there, our sisters, our cousins, Our neighbours our mothers, our friends always near, We never walked alone, or lacked for a brother who was nothing but the best, to soften a tear. Because you were there, the wings are now lighter, And rested to lift the souls to their peace, We'll always remember the debt that we owe you, Compassion that's true blue, Because you were there. Bit sentimental i know, but many thanks for twenty three years of being our rock. Not that it looks like anyone will ever read it on here... Thankfully!
Everton Football Club are also expected to make a huge gesture of solidarity with the 96 and their families – as has been the case ever since the tragedy – when they play Newcastle at Goodison Park on Monday night. An EFC spokesman confirmed that a presentation in the form of an animated graphic would be shown on the Goodison big screen before kick-off with a script paying tribute to the 96 victims and their families. He added: “We will also have children in Everton and Liverpool kits who will be led onto the pitch.” Everton manager David Moyes gave his reaction to the panel’s revelations at a pre-match press conference yesterday. He said: “I wasn’t here when the disaster happened – I was a player at the time. “I’m sure then that everyone in the city stood together as one and now we stand shoulder to shoulder with the families of the bereaved who have had to put up with this and congratulate them for persevering and getting the outcome they all believed in.” [h=4][/h] Read More http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/ever...tes-at-matches-100252-31838457/#ixzz26Xe1DuxP
