He is rather terrible though. And I don't think Portugals under 21's even qualified for the last tournament.

This is a body blow to our title hopes. I don't know if we can recover from this.

yeah, but we know torres will pull it together somewhat eventually. bebe is a winger than crosses like a fly-half. i can see him being shipped off next summer for about 1million.

His performances for the reserves were generally very good.

    So were Obertan's.

    Oh wait a minute...

SAF apparently is training him as a stiker. Seeing as Bebe had no formal training before joining Man Utd (or the 3rd division Portuguese team) I would imagine he would be given more time to try and develop. We gave Obertan 2 years and he had been playing for Frances youth national team setup while Bebe was still living in a shelter.

Overall - is this bad news or good news?

From what i gather he is one of the worst ever players to play in the EPL - along with Poulson and possibly Degen.

i honestly cannot believe youre trying to compare bebe right now to CR or nani when they arrived at our club. they were erratic and lightweight, but unless youre blind you could see the obvious amount of talent both of them possessed. you can lie to yourself all you want, but bebe possesses nothing like that and has never shown anything close to the abilities required to make it at utd. at best, he'll be shipped out like obertan. at worst...well, he might wish he was dong fangzhou or something.

Agree. There does seem to be an inherent belief amongst some supporters that because someone is on United's books, they have the potential to be great. As the likes of Manucho, Dong, Djemba Djemba etc have proven in the past, this is not always the case by any means. Bebe does cross like a fly half and the word "raw" is often used to describe him. "Raw" is football speak for inadequate. His touch is a bit "raw" means he can't trap a football etc.

Ronaldo and Nani were inconsistent but still produced plenty of moments of brilliance, even in their early days. Bare in mind, also, that they were doing this against the best in England and Europe in the first team, not playing Bury in the Manchester Senior Cup. Bebe was consistently outshone by Obertan in the Reserves. Hell, Bebe made Lee Martin look like George Best!

Hope he recovers from his injury and makes a career for himself but the deficiencies in his game are so evident that it is hard to see that being at United.
