Some games must soon be won
    I don´t care how it´s done,
To stop the rot and ease our lot
Or this may end like Gunn

    There are some who profess
    Beauty, and nothing less,
Will do these days, but what really pays
    Is goals in t´other´s nets

    And how that is achieved
    No-one has yet conceived
A foolproof plan for, or that can
    Even be well received

    Possession´s all the rage
    It´s effect hard to gauge,
From side to side, and then out wide
Then back for a new page

    Sometimes the direct route
    Can even now, bear fruit,
And should that mean, three points are seen
    Then it´s hard to refute

    For artistic impression
    If high, in ones possession,
Unlike Ice Dance, does not enhance
    Our points in any session

    Priority should be
    Scoring efficiency,
And a defence who play with sense
    Not generosity

    So, beauty or the beast?
For now the beast must feast,
Till wins return, and we don´t spurn
One chance in two, at least

And once that is the case
    Then beauty has a place,
And we´ve a team, with a head of steam
    Who ´beauty´ won´t disgrace. OTBC

A straight forward "all I'm interested in is a win" would be both direct and less attractive on the eye.

But where would your entertainment be in that.

Sorry but I have to agree.
It's the cold, hard facts of the league table that need to be addressed, not so much flouncing them up / camouflaging them with fancy rhyming epithets. Just my stance, nothing more.

I feel sorry for people that can find no enjoyment from poetry, if you understand the poetic language, it brings enormous pleasure, and RBF is a mighty fine poet! <ok>

Of that I have no doubt, but if I was down on one knee, proposing to my intended, it may be appropriate. But sifting through the wreckage of a 0 - 4 reverse midweek, trying to find some answers before we 'go again' on Saturday, it leaves me stone cold. Sorry.

Well as you know carrabuh, if it was a choice between unentertaining wins or entertaining draws and defeats, I know which one I´d take.

and Cromer, it bothers me not whether my input is appreciated or not, I´m not going to change how I write, or when I write, and as has always been the case - take it or leave it, and if at some time the majority leave it, then I´ll just bugger off, no problem.

I should have thought any fan would have been more than interested in sifting through the carnage to try to find some answers, surely better than just sweeping it all under the carpet, and pretending it didn´t happen.

Yet you go for an poem over a straight statement.

You have not explained your ideals given the irony in writing poetry over a simple statement.

That someone can elegently do something a little bit differently adds to lifes rich tappestry, whilst I am generally an unfussy neandathal and not a great reader of poetry, I can appreciate each one from RBF, because it is of a subject that I love (Thats Norwich! not 4-0 losses inflicted upon us, Bah!). That's not to say that I always agree with all of the content. But if you don't like it there are plenty of other live threads that you may find more warm and less stoney.

    Bah!

I'm not the remotest bit fussed, RBF can wax as lyrical as he wishes but I generally tend to steer clear because peak or trough, joy or despair (on the pitch) 'tis always the same old drivel he cometh out with.
So perhaps we can leave it at that?

Considering that my whole life, and my whole career have been involved with entertainment and entertaining, I´m surprised that you find it ironic, that now my career has ended, I should still wish to entertain. Personally I´m just delighted that I´ve found an outlet for my creative juices, and can hopefully continue to entertain for many years to come.

What is ironic, is, that I´m not against entertainment on the football pitch at all, as long as it produces wins, if it doesn´t then it´s worse than useless.

    ´Tis often similar drivel maybe
    But very rarely the same,
Steer clear as you wish, Cromercanary
As I do too, with certain names. :)

Crikey! Can I just say that I enjoy contributions from the bard of 606.

Those that don't have a simple choice, don't they. I would suggest there are posts (almost certainly including most of my own) that are far more worthy of criticism, yet it is these that some people single out to poo-poo publicly.

    I just don't understand it.

It's generally known as 'horses for courses'.
Doesn't stop us all wanting the best for our football club, which is of course the essence of why we're all on this forum in the first place <ok>

Did you really just use the word "drivel"?

I´d certainly love to be where West Ham are at the moment, and by all accounts they´re playing some decent stuff this year, so I´d say Lambert could probably do a lot worse - if I was the old boy you were referring to. ;)
