Considering how long it takes this club to do anything, we can expect answers sometime late next year
I wish someone would bully Beardsley into producing some talent from the academy. He may have been a brilliant player in his day, but l think he is living off his status as a Toon legend and getting away with murder.
While I agree I think it goes a lot deeper than that. From what we can gather Ashley has run the academy on a shoestring and not invested like he/the club said he/they would. First thing new owners want to do is have a complete overhaul of the the youth system. Quick and easy way to improve the club in the long term.
I wouldn’t be surprised after seeing how he behaved on the sidelines while watching his kid one Sunday morning in Ponteland many years ago. I’ve always hoped that was just his desire to see his son do well overriding his common sense. Have to say some kids now are soft as clarts though so could easily be nothing in it.

Hope it’s not true. If there is anything in it then I’m hoping its a “generation” language thing. What you used to be able to say but isn’t acceptable now sort of thing.
I saw beardo at a talk in at the Demi in Consett a few years ago and he openly said Shola was a ‘lazy ****’. This was odd for him to say that as he worked at the club on th coaching team. He then proceeded to punctuate every sentence with swear words so I can see how he may come across as abrasive. This aside, the first thing Stavely should do is do a total revamp of our youth set up. The Gibson thing I think was all about the Money as I heard he quadrupled his wages.
