The most difficult choice in years for obvious reasons and here are the nominees: Sir Chris Hoy Rory McIlroy David Weir Ellie Symonds Bradley Wiggins Ben Ainslie Andy Murray Nicky Adams Jessica Ennis Mo Farrah Sarah Storey Katherine Grainger Mine would be: 1. Bradley Wiggins - Tour De France & Olympic Gold 2. Andy Murray - US Open Winner & Olympic Gold 3. Mo Farrah - Twice Olympic Gold Winner What do you think? Who would get your vote and why? Team of the year award - Ipswich Town of course!
Would have to be Wiggins for me. However I do tend to think that this programme is not relevant in modern times, and belongs to bygone years. The B.B.C. tend to bum up this event, but for me a very boring programme which I no longer watch.
I think Ainslie deserves a mention also!! What a tough tough choice. All of those you list JWM would probably have won it any other year!!!
What a reminder of how great our Summer was, sporting-wise! 1:- Wiggins - can't see it being anyone else! 2:- Jessica Ennis - deserves it just for that gorgeous smile! Andy Murray - after years of being a "nearly" man! This is a great thread! Well done!
I can't see anyone beating Wiggo so I would have to expect him to finish 1st but in terms of how they line up behind him is anyone's guess... It shows how amazing our Summer was and even though I moaned at the time, I'd give anything to go back and do my ridiculously long shifts during the Olympics all over again just to have that feeling walking through the Olympic park on a daily basis
Now that's adecent thread to cheer us all up. Wiggo...gotta be for the mighty Tour ( and being a gentleman sportsman too) and a Gold in same year, Jess Ennis ( an extraordinary achievement and so damn nice with it all, and one of the many women who did brilliantly for us) and my choice for 3rd perhaps Sir Chris...legend and figurehead and has been our banner in nominating world cycling for years. Murray?....good try, but for me remains the nearly man. Trouble is they wont have 2 cyclists in top 3... so perhaps Mighty Mo for obvious reasons. Tonight's Town Tonking Time again...I fear so but would love to be wrong.
Wiggins Ennis Farah It does state "sports personality" of the year - surely the personality bit rules out Andy Murray Coach of the year - Paul Jewell
1. Wiggo 2. Ennis 3. Murray Would also like to nominate boxer Carl Froch who should've been nominated, he's been a wrecking machine this year. Not only that but he's also argueably had the toughest run of fights by any British boxer in history and has traveled round the world whilst doing it.
