In the lead up to the First Round Proper of the FA cup starting in November the BBC are showing a classic FA Cup goal every day. Today's is worth a look... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29305752
Hmmm, I wonder what this could be Though somewhere down the line will probably be a goal from a certain 4-3 game we were on the losing end of - or was that the league cup?
Who said route one goals aren't beautiful...... Well, they didn't save the best until last....it's all an anti-climax after this.
Route one? I believe it was a beautifully crafted move with a ball played into the strikers feet (Channon), who laid it off with a nice touch to McCalliog, who in turn played a perfectly weighted through ball to Bobby Stokes, who shinned it passed Stepney. That was excellent football, nothing like "Route one"
That's why I called it a "beautiful" goal....I had my tongue in my cheek when I called it route one, but it was only 2 passes and a shot from a goal kick!
Your right, Ian [pug] Turner did have a good game. Always get a tingle when I see that goal, I remember my Dad paying for myself and 7 other family members to stay up in London for the weekend and go to the game. Always remember there were a few United supporters staying in our little hotel who were totally convinced that they would stuff us 5 or 6 nil?
Yeah, well ManU came out all guns blazing, and Turner had only just downed his pint and put his *** out. After that he was very good.
One of the few games I ever put a bet on (and won). I still think one of the great all-time FA Cup goals (for us anyway) was Hugh Fisher's last minute equaliser against Villa in the 3rd round.
