i see the bbc studios are up for sale. this could be a chance for the owners to show how they see their future at the club. would be great to put a new stadium there for us
I'm not too convinced this is a suitable site for our long term ambitions. If you want a 30-35k stadium near to where we are now, then go for it, but i still reckon that we should hold out for a site that could give us more seating capacity. We took about 30-35k maybe more, i dunno, up to the millennium stadium against crudiff, so support is out there, we just need to harvest it. As it stands, with the ST priced as they are, we would be hard pushed to fill a stadium of 30-35k. However, if we had a seating capacity of 40-50k and sensibly priced tickets, we could fill it no problem. I'll take off my rose tinted specs now.
You certainly DO have rose tinted glasses . We could fill 40-50K Stadium no problem? I think we'd have huge problems even if prices were lowered.Just can't compare a one off playoff final against Cardiff with fortnightly league games. Going back to the BBC site, isn't part of the studios/buildings listed? Meaning they can't be torn down or redeveloped? Think I heard that somewhere.
Once more.... You can't demolish the site, as parts of the building have listed status. And leaving the biggest listed area (the 'doughnut') standing doesn't give you room for a stadium. The site is a legal non-starter.....
We can't get the goons to put their hands deep in their pockets to fund the significant signings that we need to stay up, there is no chance that they will buy the BBC site, not as part of the QPR project at least.
the whole site would make a lovely weekend pad for one of his daughters...i say his but dna tests would probably tell a different story
As the old TV Centre is a listed building, I can tell you for a fact that's there's absolutely no chance of QPR being able to develop the site for a new stadium. HOWEVER, there is a larger area around TV Centre which as been designated by the council as an "Opportunity Area", which is earmarked for development, and which QPR (specifically Ali Smith at QPR) are specically credited as being involved with. So, there do seem to be real and active efforts being made by the club to build us a new stadium within the W12 area. The actual quote from the consultation document itself (which I will link below) is that "The area may incorporate a brand new football stadium with community sports facilities, replacing the cramped and outdated ground at Loftus Road, should Queens Park Rangers Football Club come forward with acceptable and compatible proposals that facilitate regeneration of the existing housing estates in ways which benefit existing residents". Interesting, Kaspers. As said above, can't see the Goons shelling out for a new ground, but they might go for planning permission to add value to their asset, the club, and entice new owners.
Does anyone know if the BBC are moving their offices too? We could rebuild the old White City Stadium,
No the BBC buildings further north on Wood Lane aren't up for sale, it's just TV Centre that they're selling off.
I don't actually want to leave Loftus Road at all, I love it, maybe it would be better for a financial point of view but who gives a ****! (I won'tbe saying this if I don't get a season ticket)
