dave was superb for us this season and in his first season. rock solid defender, very strong in the air, good leader and a strong tackler however.... in league 1 he got really found out and was very poor throughout the season. his passing ability also really lacks - he seems very prone to random hoofs to nowhere and sometimes back towards his own goal, hence earning him the nickname distribution dave! having said that, all the best to him and hopefully he proves a good signing for you lot for Wycombe, surely this must now mean a new deal for Johnson?
As Jose said he's not good enough for League 1 and will be shown up next season. I would like to see Johnson get a new deal as he has ability so come on gaz don't hang about!
I have to disagree that he will get shown up in League 2, as he as improved no end. I never used to rate Winfield at all and 10 months ago or so I would have said he was a waste of space. Ever since the Portsmouth away game in the JPT though he has been immense. He will be missed. Everything about his game improved, he dominated forwards like he hadn't before and distribution was fine. He is now 25/26 so will have matured and I have no doubt he will be fine in league 1. However, although he will be missed, centre back is one position where we have enough quality in Doherty, Stewart, Hause, Dunne (as cover) and LJ if he is offered a new contract so this will mitigate the loss.
